Found nearly all the information about the Smith family in Gloversville from the web site advised by Margee. Found that D Nathaniel Smith died in 1961.
One final piece of the jigsaw that I can't find at moment is the maiden name of his wife. She died in 1950 in Gloverville aged 76, born in Worcester, England. Emigrated in 1892 and married 1893. Forenames are Catherine E. Survived by a sister Mrs Frank Iliffe of England (I think surname bit unclear in the copy of the newspaper report)

Charlotte Veysey died in 1954, aged 86. One brother still living, Nathaniel Smith, Gloversville.

The passenger list fro Gertrude Winnifred in 1920 says she's going to join her aunt Mrs. Wm. Dare, 30 5th. St., Gloversville. Says she's planning to stay permanently.

The info you gave for david nathaniel is very interesting as his older sister my great-grandmother Elizabeth Annie Pool (nee Smith), Had a daughter Gertrude Winifred born in 1900/1901. In 1920 she emigrated to America to stay with relatives. Until now it was assumes with Pool relations, her destination Gloversville
