I have hit a blank with the above born c1865. Fred had 3 sisters Emily c1864, Rose c1866 and Ada. c1869. Fred married Annie Marchant, born 1866 from Sussex. I see Fred in 1891 and 1911 census with correct family - and also having his place of birth as Sussex N - but can find no trace of the family together in early years - I am trying to find their parents. I see also a Fred Parfitt born in Somerset also married to an Annie. I know that there are many Parfitt families there and I have viewed all that I can find but cannot find Fred and his 3 sisters in any of them. Most of the four children ended up in Surrey/Sussex. There is a handed down family story that they were in fact from Somerset originally but I have viewed most from Clutton and Frome and surrounding areas and just cannot see them! Please can someone with better resources and/or knowledge assist me further. Fred and Annie had a son William born in 1891 in Ripley, Surrey - amongst other children. |

This is strange because I have heard of Parfitts in Alfriston, Sussex but cant see how they fit - I have no record of Emma, Maud, Theodore or Albert -but there must be some connection - more work required from me I think. At least I have a lot more things to work from. Thanks. |

Linda, how do you know that Emily, Rose and Ada were his sisters? |

Thanks Marie Celeste for background info which is all right except my grandfather is down as "John" as he was called as a child and he was known as "Jack"as an adult but his birth cert has him as Albert Edward - if only things were more simple! Will definitely get FWP's birth certificate. Very odd the three girls and he do not appear on relevant census. Thanks again one and all for your help. |

My mother remembers them all and knows who they married - or not in the case of Rose who had an illegitimate daughter when she was in service! I also remember seeing old Aunt Rose when I was very young. There is no doubt as to them being correct. My maternal grandfather co-incidentally also had sisters called Emily, Rose and Ada - which confused me in the past until my mother put me right when we were talking at Christmas! |
