Have exchanged PM’s with Leslie, but I don’t think he intends to try to make contact :-( :-(

Linda still seems to be a member, so click on her name and send her a message. 1911 census info suggests that your p.c. was sent to her relation.

She is unlikely to be expecting a reply on here after 14 years…………

I am a GR member with no Parfitt connection but, in case of interest to those who have, I have a 1909 Postcard postmarked Woking from "Charlie" addressed to Mrs E Parfitt, ? Mrs Parfitt, The Green, Ripley, Surrey. Its message is about cattle being driven "down to Ripley". If anyone wants to know more, they can message me.

My mother remembers them all and knows who they married - or not in the case of Rose who had an illegitimate daughter when she was in service! I also remember seeing old Aunt Rose when I was very young. There is no doubt as to them being correct. My maternal grandfather co-incidentally also had sisters called Emily, Rose and Ada - which confused me in the past until my mother put me right when we were talking at Christmas!

Thanks Marie Celeste for background info which is all right except my grandfather is down as "John" as he was called as a child and he was known as "Jack"as an adult but his birth cert has him as Albert Edward - if only things were more simple! Will definitely get FWP's birth certificate. Very odd the three girls and he do not appear on relevant census. Thanks again one and all for your help.

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 28 Dec 2011 14:49

Linda, how do you know that Emily, Rose and Ada were his sisters?

Linda

Linda Report 28 Dec 2011 14:42

Penny - yes I think FWP's marriage certificate is a must have- I just cant get back any further without it.

Helen: Sorry who is Jane and the Nappers?!!

Hello again Linda, don't worry about the rules - you learn them as you go!! :-)

Just adding the details:

"Yes these are my ancestors from a proven line. My mother still living, her father Albert Edward Parfitt (or John/Jack) 1900-1963, his father was Frederick William Parfitt (married to Annie Marchant) who I am trying to find together with his 3 sisters, Emily, Rose and Ada. Do you need any more? I just cant FWP his siblings and his ancestors! Thanks"

Linda

Linda Report 28 Dec 2011 14:21

Reply to Marie Celeste: Yes Fred William Parfitt was my maternal great-grandfather.

Reply to K: You have FWP married to a Jane but mine is definitely Annie Marchant but it is a real mystery because I remember my maternal grandparents going on holidays to Alfriston but I just cant see the connection to my FW Parfitt married to Annie!

Sorry to some of the above - I seem to have broken a rule and replied direct on Send Message rather than reply here. I didnt realise!

This is strange because I have heard of Parfitts in Alfriston, Sussex but cant see how they fit - I have no record of Emma, Maud, Theodore or Albert -but there must be some connection - more work required from me I think. At least I have a lot more things to work from. Thanks.
