Help! Some advice is needed.

I have now got a birth cert for Eliza Smitten (as above). The birth certificate shows that the father is John Smitten and mother is Ann Allen. On following all the clues I believed (perhaps mistakenly) that her mother's maiden name was Holland. Eliza seemed to belong the census referenced above but now I am not so sure.

As mentioned above, there was no Eliza Smitten and George Smith marriage so question is how do I go about confirming this or not?

Thanks in advance.

I have now got the birth certificate and it has thrown up more questions. Eliza was born 14 Apr 1856 to John and Ann Allen in Bentley Heath, Solihull.

The only marriage I can find is John Smitten to Ann Holland! I went to the Birmingham Library to find this marriage in 1846. I found it and Ann was single (I was hoping she was a widow!) when she married and she was a Holland.

So now marriage is out!

Can anyone find a Smitten and Allen marriage? Please!
