i have researched the family tree quite thouroughly thankyou SylvialnCanada even to the point of visiting the birth places, graves and residences of my relations (see - wardle and smallbridge history group and click on the link Clough family story) so in some of your comments theres no need to be quite so rude - i asked for help as in the past i have had alot of support from other users - i do appriciate the help but some of the comments i am receiving really does put me off requesting help in the future.

thankyou Linsey i think you've cleared up where i have been going wrong - i've been chasing the wrong James clough in the last few weeks and that the information i already have on my tree is correct with James dieing in the war in 1916 in france. many thanks for your help

Yes I looked at Alice in Burnley, but sort of discounted it because that was one of twins, but drifted off and forgot to see if the boy died, or did he have to die ?
