Hello I'm trying to find out any information I can about my grandmother. Until yesterday I knew hardly anything about either of my grand parents..

Rosina Gertrude Baker was born in London in 1904 married my grandfather Thomas Clark Stafford in Chelsea in 1925. He was born in Thorne Yorkshire. They had 3 children my Mum Violet Margaret Spafford being the youngest.

My Mum died young in 1967. I can remember her saying that her Mum left the family home when she was two which would have been around 1934. I've found Rosina remarried Gerald Lewis Peters in 1939.

She died in Taunton Somerset in 1942 aged just 37. I can remember my Mum saying she got killed in the Blitz but just presumed she was in London.

I've scored the Internet looking at all the civilian causality lists for around that area and coming up with nothing :(

My Grandfather also re married in 1942? a lady with the surname of Door. My Mum said my grandfather fought at Dunkirk. He would have been 37 was this not quite old to fight on the front line? Also would he have had to fight if he had 3 children to look after. Thank you for any help........joy x

Oh my goodness thank you much that's more information then I could ever of hoped for. Thank you <3

How do you all find out so much information so quickly. I've used 50 credits since yesterday :(

Penny Report 6 Sep 2011 07:47

You really need her first marriage cert - that will name her father . If the info matches with the census , then you are probably away, if not you are back on the start grid.

Please substantiate info as you go, you'll follow the wrong trail otherwise

Did she marry a MR Stafford or a MR Spafford?

Hi Penny yes her first husband was Thomas Spafford that was my Grandfather.

Joy

You would be better off subscibing to Ancestry or FMP if you are searching for a lot of info, it would work out cheaper than buying credits

Also BMD are free to search here from 1837 to 1955abt

Sorry Fairthorn when you said 'You can then contact the owner of the tree' I was not sure how I went about it. Even that I can see other peoples trees. I'll have to have a good look around on the site.

Oh dear Gerald Lewis Peters didn't live to a ripe old age either :( Now I'm wondering if my Grandmother had children with her second husband. Oh my goodness I'm getting excited now LOL

Looks like Gerald/Lewis Peters was married before ...........his first wife is on the Maureen's GR family tree.

If you do not get an answer via GR from her,
I can look for her & so perhaps you could write to her direct.
