These are the divorce papers for Rosina

Court for Divorce and Matrimonial Causes, later Su... J 77/3791/5465
Divorce Court File: 5465. Appellant: Thomas Clarke Spafford. Respondent: Rosina Gerturde Spafford. Co-respondent: John Albert Vickers. Type: Husband's petition for divorce [hd]. . Divorce Court File: 5465. Appellant: Thomas Clarke Spafford. Respondent:
Date: 1937
Source: The Catalogue of The National Archives

So it looks like your grandfather filed for divorce and also named the man Rosina was 'friends' with.....John Albert Vickers

You can order or view these from The National Archives, heres the link

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/displaycataloguedetails.asp?CATLN=7&CATID=-3174704&j=1

I would take a guess that after Rosina left the family home she was never mentioned again so maybe thats where the 'died in the blizt' story came from

joy Report 6 Sep 2011 17:59

Thank you Ginny. I can't work out how to search for children on that site :( (((((( What do I need to put in to get the child up of Gerald & Rosina? I'm sorry I'm putting on you xxxxxxxx

Gee

Gee Report 6 Sep 2011 18:22

You need to enter the name Peters in the surname and the name Baker in mothers name

Then add the dates you want to search between, I searched 1937-1940

Have you read back on the divorce I posted?

Gee

Gee Report 6 Sep 2011 18:28

Nope...ignore me, there are not any children as I can see. I clicked marriages not births

Sorry

joy Report 6 Sep 2011 18:30

Thank you Ginny xxxxx Yes I've had a look at the divorce papers but will go back and read everything a bit more throughly. I've got a bit excited trying to find more children:)))) It looks like my Grandmother packed quite a bit in her short life :)

Hi, I can see that this is quite an old post, however I thought I would see if you are still looking into your Grandmother. Rosina is of great interest to me, I have just found her name on what appears to be my great grandparents Census record. My grandmother, was Queenie Georgina Louise Baker born in 1909 she died when my now 87 year old Dad was a young boy during the war. We had always thought that Queenie had just the one brother John (who we knew as Jack) who was born in 1913. Rosina also appears on the 1909 Census for 31 Cremorne Chelsea. It also appears that she remarried several times, (Spafford in 1925, Peters in 1939 and finally Baker in 1951). Until I found this record I had no knowledge of Rosina, I would love to know if you know more about her now.

Peter

Peter Report 13 Apr 2020 23:03

Following up to my previous post, I can see that Rosina is definately my Grandmothers sister, the marriage record states the address as Dartree Road the same house as my Father was born in Chelsea.

Thanks EricaH,

I will give it a try. The community on Genesreunited does appear to be depleting somewhat. There was quite an active discussion on here back in 2011.. I just wish I had done enough to be able to contact Joy back then.

I appreciate your help.
