Paul there should be more to add given you are back to Thomas and Jane (1881) as you have Thamas' father James Henry from Co Down...Plus you are needing to find out what Janes' maiden name was ...
Genealogy is very much a case of detective work and often takes you where you weren't expecting to go..!!

Ok. it's took me a few hours to digest all this information ( I'm a bit slow when it comes to Geneology, not like you clever people.)

But it looks like I've got my dads family, hook line and sinker.

I think the confusing bit was the whole John Thomas Lucas thing. looks like my grandads mum remarried after William. Don't know what the heck happened to william Henry, maybe he went missing in a war or something ?

But a big thanks to all you clever and helpful people. If I could I'd buy you all a drink !

Ok I have an update ,

Just spoken to my dad on the phone.

He doesn't know much about his family. He says his dad was Robert Henry and Robert Henry's brother was Thomas Heyes and Thomas Heyes was married ( as far as he can remember) to Jane Heyes .

Robert Henry and Thomas Heyes shared the same mum but a different dad. My dad thinks that maybe Roberts dad was william or Thomas. Possible william.

Maybe the irish link is a red herring I am not sure.

Yes Maddy I am guessing that my grandad ( Robert)was born around that time. My dad was born in 1945 and his olest sister was born in 1940.

You sound like you may have a match. I am sure my day mentioned a Heyes in the family and the irish connection is there too. So John could have been Robert's dad and Thomas his grandad ? James his great grandad ?

robert henry 1908 mother was ann jane heyes who married william henry and then lucas or so it seems

John Henry (1881) Census married Eliz. Alice Hunt. St Catherines Wigan 1895.

Sarah Henry married Thomas Heyes. St Thomas' 1905....

This looks very promising, are the last two bits of information from the same family but with a 20 year interval or are they separate families ?

And the one above the last 2 looks promising too,

My Grandad ( Bob) Robert Henry was born, as far as I know in Logwood Avenue, Wigan. But maybe he wasn't born there.

I think some of the family lived in Scholes, Wigan, perhaps a street called Hardybutts. As far as I am aware they came from ireland but maybe before a few years in wigan.

Thomas Henry was born in 1903/1904, so from another marriage, or not Thomas Henry?
