Hi all,

Can someone please check the 1841-1861 Census, for William and Amelia Staines, possibility with sons William c1830, George c1831 and Alfred c1842 in the area of Essex.

They immigrated to Australia, sometime between 1851 and 1862,

Thanks, Joy

Flick,

Sorry, misunderstood. I have been only able to find the deaths of the 3 sons. Have only found the arrival of William 1852 & George in 1853, Alfred Ward died in 1862 aged 19 years.

I might consider getting the birth cert for Alfred, as then you can hopefully confirm his mother's name.

Jan,

I have the death certificate of Alfred Ward, just checked it says Amelia Sarah, maybe she was known as Amelia, it was filled out by his brother William.

Just a query, were the family still in the same place on the 1861 Census?

tempest

tempest Report 15 May 2011 12:40

here they are on 1861 at the same address as 1851

it took a bit to find them as the surname has been bodged by fmp, it says Staines on the original, Sarah is calling herself Amelia now, oh and places/ birth years have been altered since 1851.
