Find Ancestors

Trying to find info on Alice M Holmes married to Maurice W Garnham in 1918 Ipswich. I'm pretty sure she is the sister of Robert Holmes b.1901 & the daughter of Nathan Holmes b.1869 in Lavenham Suffolk. Except for the marriage certificate I cannot find absolutely nothing else.

The daughter there seems to be Olive. The marriage certificate will give her father's name.

You obviously refer to the marriage record.....not the cert.

No birth reg'n for an Olive May in the district/time scale

The 1901 census image is very clear, but it's entirely possible that the enumerator mis-read his notes when copying the info to the actual sheet

For absolute certainty, buy the marriage cert

Many, many thanks for the above help, it's really appreciated to a fairley newbie to all this. I never thought about mis-spellings etc re: Olive/Alice I just assumed as Olive wasn't on 1911 cenus & that states a child has died, she was the one. seems I have a lot to learn?

Blimey, don't know how you manage to find these things, sometimes (as now) I am sitting here spending the last two hours looking for just one thing.

Re the above, Speculative maybe, but for now I shall grab this with both hands (I'm like that).

If you could answer another short question for me I would be grateful concerning Nathan Holmes (as you've shown above) appears to be around on 1871 then disappears until 1901 why would this be?
