Find Ancestors

We are trying to find out about Jessie Moses, her birth and ancestors. The only certain fact for sure sure is that she married Robert Albert Giles in Sep 1859 in Greenwich cert no 1d 806. They had daughters Jessie and Ellen. They do not seem to appear in the census as Robert and Jessie Giles. It is possible that her father may have been John Moses.

If any one has details of her date and place of birth or her ancestors we would be very pleased to hear from you

This has been badly transcribed. The original image definitely says Moses. Jessey's father is also named Jessey and is a tailor.

Residence at time of marriage is given as Miles Street for both of them.

Do you kno when Jessie died?

Hiya - sorry we do not know that. Its almost like she did not exist - but we do know that the child Jessey Giles was her daughter and is our direct relative. Not really sure why Robert Giles does not appear in the census with her

Possibly the moses family was in Greenwich locality

Its been such a mystery for so long - hence our posting

Rob and Tina - in my own research I've come across relatives where there is no record of their births. It was only after 1874 that the onus was on parents to register the birth or be fined. Before that, some were simply not recorded.

Hi Anne Marie - thanks for that input, we simply do not have access to all the records on line and was just hoping for someone who might shed some light on Jessey Moses. Just such a stop on a direct line.

The interesting thing is that the witnesses are GIOVANNI GIANELLA & Elizabeth Tate.... it would follow that as the name Giovanni Gianella is unusual that he is in someway related to Jessey Emma.
