Find Ancestors

Dorcas Ainsworth, nee Whymark married to Willam, a soldier, and lived in Colchester in the 1860's. After 1866 I can find no trace of her and wondered if they moved back to Lancashire where Wm came from. I know she died in the 1870's but dont know where or when! Can anyone help? Liz

Was her name Ainsworth when she died? and where was it?

I don't see a death for her as Dorcas Ainsworth or a re-marriage. Where did you get the information that she died in the 1870s please?

Is she the Dorcas Whymark age 22 on the 1861 census, born 1839, Nayland, Suffolk and living there with mother Charlotte, widow and siblings?

It has a little more information.


"My gr.gr. aunt Dorcas Whymark married a soldier Wm. Ainsworth in Colchester in 1865. Had a son Edward 1865 and then the regiment moved to Scotland. I have found Wm. and son 15yrs later living in Salford area 1881. A widower and out of the army. I cant find trace of her death. As the reg. also then went to Ulster it's proving v. difficult. Anyone out there got a clue? I'd be v. grateful."

That helps then that she was poss in Scotland or Ireland !!!
