How ever did we used to manage with just the postman and the public phone box ?

Dozey

Dozey Report 16 Jul 2010 18:00

Even the phone box wasn't a lot of use then. Hardly any of the relatives on the phone.

Been busy on research today - found a handful more to add to the tree.

You can't up sticks and go Jeanie ....not in the middle of researching !

I have been informed that:-

"If you don't renew your subscription you will then become a free member and still be able to access your tree and add to it.
You will be able to reply to any messages you receive but not make the 1st contact with anyone.
You won't be able to post on the boards."

So presumably I can still make contact with those already in my contact list. Anyway I have private e-mail numbers for five members so I could ask them for a personal favour if I need help with any brick walls. It would, of course, be up to them whether they are prepared to help.

early morning nudge

Dozey

Dozey Report 17 Jul 2010 08:16

Good morning. I'm not saying I will not rejoin at a later date Michael. Just need a break I think and may be facing a vet bill. Poor old chap is now scraping his feet on the ground when out for walks. Bit worrying - having consulted dog books and the internet could be a spinal problem. Hope not!

Not into dogs but I have looked after a few when friends have gone on holiday.
Am always amazed by the amount people spend on prolonging the life of an animal when nature is telling them it's time to go.
That must seem cold-hearted but it annoys me that vets are fleecing sentimental people at the expense of the animal's quality of life.
One friend spent thousands on chemo treatment for her dog who was 11 yrs old... with the inevitable outcome - a dead dog and a family in debt.

....Waits for the back-lash !!

Dozey

Dozey Report 17 Jul 2010 13:28

No back lash from me really Michael. Did spend quite a bit on my first greyhound, Ceilidh, who had tumour after tumour or her legs. Quite easily removed and she really enjoyed life. As soon as I found out she had an internal one she was given the best I could give her - a quiet and peaceful death. Trouble is my son. He'd do anything to prolong their lives and cannot see he is being selfish. I always get it in the neck for being too quick to put them to sleep. I do what I would like doctors to do for me if I was in their condition.

Bed time nudge.

Mike * Report 18 Jul 2010 00:44

Really should be in bed, early start in morning.
Why do car boots have to be crack of dawn ?

Dozey

Dozey Report 18 Jul 2010 07:58

Car boots - not keen on them Michael. I'm off out to the greyhound meet in about an hour. We do not start out from meeting point until about 9.45. Far more civilised.

Thread will have to look after itself until much later unless a newbie is prepared to help.
