You could still be right, Allan. That 1835 marriage to Nancy Isherwood does say that the husband was previously married. He could have married Nancy Tattersall first.

How did you get back to this family please. With the mmn now available on lancsbmd it may be easier to restart at a later point to identify the right children.

There are rather a lot of John Hindle, weaver, marriages - 2 examples below + the 2nd poss marriage. I thought at first that the witnesses may be a clue, but they may be 'professional' witnesses as they both appear on many of the marriages of the time.

John Hindle - (X), Weaver Bachelor of this parish
Nancy Yates - (X), Spinster of this parish
Witness: Joseph Fairbrother; James Nevill
Married by Banns by: J Blackhouse
Register: Marriages 1827 - 1829, Page 18, Entry 53

Allan

Allan Report 29 May 2010 06:30

To Mrs Crumpy, Margaret, Lancashire Ann THANK YOU for your help with my Nancy Tattersall who was the sister to my ancestor Henry Tattersall bc 1821 Haslingden Lancashire son and daughter of James Tattersall and Tabitha Rawstron. I was hoping that John and Nancy Hindle was listed in the 1841 and 1851 census that would have given me their childrens names but the records have shown that there are too many John and Nancy Hindle. I feel that Nancy Hindle may have died young and that her widow husband John remarried but I have no threads which may guide me at the moment. THANK YOU once again.
Allan
