I'm trying to trace my grandfather Jack Bartlett born 1904 or 1905. I cant find a record of his birth but do have a little information on him that I know is correct.

Jacks father was Harry Hayden Bartlett

Jacks wife was Annie Munro Speirs they married 21st April 1929 at St Judes Church in Lambeth

He died age 37 in cardiff and was a 2nd engineer on the merchant ship Colwith Force.

Jacks family came from the London area and we believe he was the youngest child of 12.

Would this be his parents marriage ,if so that would not make him the youngest of twelve.

The strange thing is my mothers maiden name is Edwards

The reason your Mother's maiden name is Edwards is that Jack is Jack Edwards not Jack Bartlett as his parents were not married - this is what all the information we have found points to.
A birth has been found for Jack Edwards in Christchurch, but in 1903. How sure are you of the birth date?
