♥Deetortrainingnewfys♥ Report 3 Jan 2010 23:44

Hi, sorry to ask, but my credits have run out.

Would someone be able to look up Sarah Bird born Lambeth, London with Daughters Harriet and Ellen in 1911?

They were living with her husband Robert Bird in 1901 at 34 Montegue Street, Fulham.

I am trying to establish if Robert had died by this time as I have found a death in Dec 1/4 1908 which could be him. Also, I would like to know if there were more children to the marriage.

I appreciate any help on this one. Thank you in advance.

Dee

There is this marriage Sarah Bird 1911 mar qt Fulham to either Alexander Leggett or George F Francis.

Perhaps.
1911 census
Alexander Leggett 1868
Sarah Leggett 1869

Sarah might have knocked a few years off her age because she was older than him

I am so glad that it's not just me being sensitive! I thought that comment was so unnecessary

Not everyone has the resources to buy credits willy nilly and that could be why Dee asked very politely for help

I don’t have subs for 1911, but if you need anything from Ancestry World Wide Dee, please let me know

1911 is free to search, and household groupings can be found by correct use of the search procedure.

You haven't given any birth years in your request, so we are lacking some essential details to make a fully-informed search

Thank you to all of you. I have only just picked up the messages (back at work today). I will look into them all later as they prove interesting reading. Sorry for not giving any dob's.

As regards to the comments made about buying more credits. I would, but I cannot justify spending more when my ancestry renewal is due soon, my husband would have a hissy fit if I spent more right now!

I realise that I was a bit cheeky to ask for someone else to look up, I have done many look-ups over the past 3 years for other GR members, and was hoping that someone would do the same for me. And you have! Thanks to all of you. I thought this is what the Records office on GR is all about -asking for help??

to Claire in Lincs

I have not been offended by your comment, but perhaps they could have been less, shall we say, harsh! I WILL buy more credits later when I can.

to everyone else, I will get back to you later. Thank you again

Hi all, I'm back.

Elizabeth & Linda B - That is them in 1901. And thank you Linda for the buriel details, I didn't have that.

Jonesy - Why would Harriett be in an institution, Why wouldn't Ellen be with her? She is not with Sarah and her new husband, though I haven't looked for a death of Ellen. Sarah was born in Lambeth around 1865, so that fits.

Ginny - I have ancestry membership, but not world wide so should I need anything, I will get back to you. Thankyou for the offer.

Quinsgran & Glitter Babe - Not sure about Leggett marriage, possible, but again, where are the children, and there is the question of Sarah's age?? I do not know her father's name, I will be ordering the marriage cert to Robert over the next week (have a few to get so have to decide which to get first - more money to spend) I guess that will help to decide which marriage might fit.

Elizabeth and Freewheel - It is Robert Bird I am following. He was born 1849 in Gayton, Norfolk. I found him on the 1901 census where it read Grayton, Norfolk, this is where I found his wife's name and the two girls Harriett and Ellen. I saw that Sarah had he mother with them and looked for Robert and Sarah's marriage, which I found in Sept 1/4 1896 Fulham. I wanted to find them in 1911 but couldn't find them. I then found the death of Robert but couldn't find the other's either which is why I asked GR members.

So I will have to work on all this new info. I had already found Robert's brother Henry and mother Ann with Henry's family at 140 Bronsart Road, Fulham in 1911.

I will order the marriage cert and make sure it is the correct family. My interests lie in the Bird line, and I was hoping I would find a son somewhere for Robert, but the line of birds may well have ended in this branch of the tree. As mentioned by Elizabeth, there seem to be a lot of Birds in Fulham. I do wonder how many more are from my clan in Gayton, Old Buckenham and Snetterton there are.

I do wonder about the place of birth for Ellen on the 1901 census. Devonshire?? why would she have been born there? I did find a birth record on ancestry for an Ellen Valentine Bird born March 1/4 1900 in Fulham, which fits the age and area on the 1901 census, but Devonshire? Robert was in Lincolnshire in 1891 and with his family prior to that. Very strange!

Once again, thank you to everyone for your input.
Regards
Dee

Dee.

You asked why Harriet was in an institution. An institution on the 1911 can be a school, hospital boarding house, lodgings etc. She was 13 , old enough to work so she could be doing that.

Ask someone who has a 1911 census subscription to find out where she is

MaureeninNY thank you for posting the 1911 details for me.

Jonesey: Yet again you have come up with such useful information. Thank you very much. I have sent an email to the LMA to ask what records they may have. (I am hoping they will do a look up for me - too far from London to just drop in).

It is nice to think that Harriett had a chance in education, so many children didn't get those chances back in 1911. Her family consisted of mainly shepherds, with little to their names, so it would be nice to find something which indicates she had the best of oportunities in her lifetime.

Thanks for all the help.
Dee
