Find Ancestors

Can anyone help me.
The wife of James, Harriet, died in child birth in 1863 in London.The 2 elest boys of this marriage went to stay with their grand mother Jane in Exeter, Waterbeer St. (1871) cencus.
James was the son of Frederick Woolcott and Isibella Soper.
Isibella then died in 1846.
A Frederick 47 married Jane Fare 43 in 1848 where on the 1851 census they had 2 children James 14 and Thomas who was 5, both born before their marriage do you think James is from a previous marriage of Janes or could this be the same James.
There is also a death of a James in exeter in 1865.
I hope you can understand this, maybe I'm completely wrong anyway

Thank you for your help, is there any way of finding out if the 2 James's are the same person. I'm following the 1834 James the other born 1837.
If my James is the wrong one I will have to change half of my tree and I thought I was doing very well.

Inspector Frederick Woolcott 1848 - Mentioned in a case of goods stolen at the Globe Hotel, St Mary's Yard, the property of a travelling salesman.



He was a shoemaker in 1841 then an inspector by 1848. That's quite a jump in 7 years. But in 1841 there is a son who is a hair draper and then your James is also a hair draper.
I don't suppose Isibella's death certificate would have her husband's occupation on it, would it?
Would her address be on it? Waterbeer St was where the Police Station was situated.

Did James marry Harriet Hillier? as there are the banns on Ancestry but I don't have that sub to look at it.

Hi again,
Yes James married Harriet Hillier in May 1858.
Walter 1861 was my gt grandfather.
She died in childbirth in 1863 along with the child.
So I know my tree is correct up untill then.
