1st here is the marriage record and if there is no sight on the census records and you have v.little info it would be a good idea to obtain this cert.You would then have father's name and occupation and any witnesses to the marriage and his age at marriage.

Sounds great what you are doing but im really sorry i can't help.I have records for the Census 1841-1901 and parish records and BMD's but i do not have Electoral Roll records and this is what's needed for live searches.There are people on the boards that do Electoral Roll searches so best to try 1 of them.Do a search on the boards.Also another site you could try is Friends Reunited-now free and great way to find classmates.You can access it by Genes-on the Home page its 1 of the tabs at the top.

Okay Michelle - here we go! Hope it's not more than you want.

1901 address 86 High Street, Cae Harris, Dowlais shows Mary H Davies (head/widow) 38, David 15, Harriet 7, Hugh 3, Lydia 1, Mordecai 5, Sarah A 10, Thomas 13 (my grandfather) William J 19. These are correct as have checked with my mother.

1891 address 86 High Street, Merthyr Tydfil, Dowlais - same place but put differently. Shows David Davies head 30, Mary H 28, William J 9, David 5, Thomas 3, Sarah Ann 8 months plus cousin and wife Williams.

1871 2 East Street, Dowlais, Merthyr Tydfil. Shows John Davies head occupation Mason (age shown on original looks like 34 but am convinced this is 39 making birth 1832), Mary 35, David 10, William 9, Sarah 7, Richard 3, John Henry 5 weeks.

1841 address Gwarallt, Abernant, Carmarthenshire.
Shows John Davies 40 - Mason, Mary 35, Esme? 14, Anna 12, John 9, Margaret 7, Mary 5, David 2, then it looks like Rachel Davies (David?) 65, Anna? Davies 60, both of independent means. Maybe Rachel was Davies and mother of John? and Anna an aunt? John and Mary would have been my great, great, great grandparents.

I probably should have done these censuses in reverse order to make it easier to follow.

Would love to know what you think about the odd ones on the 1841 and whether you can get back any further with the family. I was told by my mother she thought there were Spanish in the family (presumably on the female side) but nothing coming up so far and it's not the reason I'm doing this!

Have just found John and Mary on the 1851 and 1861 censuses. 1851 still at Gwarallt but with James 7, Thomas 4 as well as David and Mary.

1861 at Porthyrhyd, Newchurch, Carmarthen John, Mary and Thomas.

Any info you can send me i.e., printouts for all the censuses - if possible - plus marriages and any other info going back.

Can you possibly give me any information on the following brothers.
John George Smith born March 1879 Eydon
James Thomas Smith born Jan 1882 Eydon
William Edden Smith born daventry sept 1886.
I do have a war pension record for William but no pension as he apparently only served a couple of years in 6th Warwickshires .When he joined up he was a bunkerman at Polesworth Collery but cannot find anything about him after being medically discharged in 1918.As for other 2 i cannot find Marriages or children .
Can you help .
