May have been originally from Fife but have nothing solid to base this on.

Strange thing is I can't find any other members of this family on the notts discs

Also thanks for the wedding date Sam even if it put s my grandfather two years before the wedding.Its the sort of confusion I am coming to accept.

Just a word of warning..one of the most annoying things about Census entries is that they insist in showing BASFORD as in Derbyshire..its very misleading,and happens an awful lot.
I should know..I live in basford Nottingham and my main area of research is Derbyshire....Basford is in the City of Nottingham,never was and never will be in Derbyshire.
Sounds like a rant, but its for your benefit.

Of course, the only way to be absolutely sure of the parentage of the children is to obtain the birth certificates for all of them!

At £7 per certificate, that might become a little expensive, but it honestly is the only way.

Hi Joan, I think John Robert may have died thoiugh I do not know for sure I have been so involved with trying to sort the Greens from the Hemstocks and Hemstock Greens.
To further complicate things my gt grandmother s mother was a Hemstock so it is not easy to untangle.I presume Sarah married back into her mothers family after she lost my gt grandfather. Jarvis was much older than her.
Your help in finding out when the first Sarah died is the first breakthroughI have had.
