Find Ancestors

If anyone is going to Northampton Records Office, I would be so very grateful if they could help me try and find the birth of my grandfather Charles, born in December 1899 in Loddington.

I have been unable to find him in the indexes on on the 1901 census, and wondered if there are any further records from Loddington in the records office. I am particularly interested in his mother's name and maiden name.

They lived at Ellistown in Loddington if you can actually do an address search of the census.

Any help you can give me would be very gratefully received.

how do you know for sure the address where they lived. Some people moved around an area quite a bit.

Yes - sadly that's the wrong father's name and the other children do not have the same names as the one's I've been given.

My father has told me that they were all from Loddington - born and bred...

What where the other childrens names?.

His father's name was Thomas Hill, who was listed as a groom on the marriage certificate (although he was also dead by then - 1928). The other children were:

Ernest James
Agnes
Annie
Polly
Frederick
James
Sheila
Douglas
John

and there were another couple of children, but unfortunately no-one can remember their names...

I did find that record - but he was born in December...?

There is also a bit of confusion about the Loddington/Luddington thing, as the marriage certificate has been typed out with Luddington, but my father is 100% sure it should be Loddington...

the nearest reg district would be Kettering

That's what I thought, but sadly - I still can't find his birth registered anywhere...

If his birth had never been registered, would he have still been able to get married ? Would he not have had to produce a birth certificate do you think ?

do you know when any of the siblings died?
the death index would have the age which could help in finding birth indexes in the same area and census records

not finding siblings around the same time as Charles but later births ? some named after siblings

If you go to search trees on this site you will find some of these names so it might be worth sending them a message to see if it is the family (my mother thought her family came from London until i found them in Suffolk and then they moved to London)
