hi tracey

i know that george's father was named daniel i just got the mum's wrong i was always told that george's mother was rebecca but in faxed it was his stepmother because daniel was married before to a lady called maira wright she died in 1847 8 months atfer george was born.
But i am very grateful for the help that the researchers have giving me with my family tree.

Susan.

You have all these people doing all this hard work for you... but you really need to order not only George's birth cert but Rebecca's marriage cert....

...the marriage cert will indicate what condition he was before the marriage...IE widow or batchelor... indeed the same applies to Rebecca, it'll confirm her condition too....

....we all advocate the purchasing of certificates, there have been many documented cases on here of people who run with a family line and doing a tree, only to find out when they ordered the paperwork they were completely wrong.

You may find your ancestor was not indeed Daniel's son, and once you have the birth cert and if the fathers column is blank then it most certainy was an illegitimate birth, and highly likely Daniel not the father.

Reggie, and all the other helpers including myself are very knowledgable people who have done this time and time again, and know from the signs the likely outcome, we now have a 6th sense for these things!

You have 2 choices for ordering the certs, the first is online at the GRO (http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/), they take about 14 days to arrive, or you can order them over the telephone from the local office the event was registered, in this instance Lexden.

I hope this helps you some what..... occasionally in Genealogy you have to 'think outside the box'

I hope this helps you a little

Tracey

hi reggie

i have had a talk with my aunt and she said that daniel everitt's wife was rebecca. Rebecca could have had george and william before her and daniel married and then they got married.

regards susan

ps thank you for the info.

George was born c1848: that was before Daniel and Rebecca married...........

I was merely pointing out that it MAY be that Rebecca was not the mother of William and George, which would mean that you would have to find out who their mother was.

Unless, of course, you have George's birth cert, in which case, his mother's identity is not in doubt.............

These are the earlier marriages, which I mentioned above..........

Daniel Everit 1842 Jan-Feb-Mar Lexden Essex
Maria Wright 1842 Jan-Feb-Mar Lexden Essex

Susanna Murrells 1842 Oct-Nov-Dec Lexden Essex

It may be that my reasoning is way off beam.............so I'll leave it with you.

Which of Daniel's children is your ancestor?

Of the ones on the 1851 census......two were born before he married Rebecca.............
If either of them is your direct ancestor, you may have to consider that Rebecca is not....................

There are two marriage reg'ns for Daniel Everit(t) in Lexden district in 1842...............he may well have been married before.............
