Mary,

It is possible 'John' was not his usual first name? In which case the net is a little bigger than you expect!!

Still looking...

Hi Tracey

Someone very kindly found a James Rose occ. glass maker in Liverpool 1851 census, dead before 1861. Following that one through didn't turn anything up either - his wife remarried but no children with her on the following census. If they were his parents what did she do with Henry? Found her family and no children with them either :-((

I really think now after so long of searching for him and having bought about 50 birth certs (not kidding!) that perhaps he wasn't born in England at all - even though he always says pob West Bromwich on the census. I have no idea at all of what his mother's name was or if he had any siblings and just can't pin him down on any census before 1881.

hmmm,

The problem is with the way the handwriting was and the flowery way Rose would be written it could have been converted into anything !

Could Henry have been born a Harold etc?

I'm still hunting tho!

Hello Tracey, I don't know if I have asked you for this before, if I have forgive and ignore me. I have been trying to trace my Gt. Grandfather's sister. I have her at home with the family in 1881, in Whittlesey, Cambs, possibly living with her aunt next door. The siblings of this family are divided between the two homes. Her name is Margaret Eliza Wells Webster Turner b 1864 Gt.Gidding,Hunts. In the 1871census she is Margaret, but by 1881 she is Eliza. However, I have her birth cert.and it gives her name in full as above. I cannot find her after the 1881 census, either in marriages or deaths.
Also, I have found her sister Eleanor Annie in the 1901 census in Nottingham, but would like to know if she married or when she died.
Many Thanks

Gilda,

Anything else on her... year of birth, anywhere she's believed to have lived and when.....?

Has she been found on any census at all....?

Has she married? had children?

Hi Tracey

His name on his marriage cert is Henry Rose - problem is it could have been a different spelling. Also on the census he is down as Henry but he was known as Harry.

So, as well as the surname being spelt differently Henry could also have been a 2nd name, added to which his yob may not have been 1855 - like I say it's a very difficult one :-((((

Thanks
Mary

I am trying to trace a Harry Sweatman who is stated as the father on birth certificate of Ruth, born 25/8/1944 mother stated as Jane formerly Hill. It indicates that Jane and Harry were married but I have searched thro all 1943, 44 marriages but cant find anything. Harry was a private in Durham Light Infantry - I guess he would be born around 1920-ish. Any help would be much appreciated

Hello Tracey- thanks for looking for me,but I don't think this is my Margaret Eliza. Just had another look at her Birth cert. and it definitely says her birth was 23 Feb 1864. Did you have any luck with her sister Eleanor Annie b 1870, Whittlesey Cambs. and in Nottingham in 1901
Many Thanks

Hi Tracey,

It looks like you have had a very busy day!!

Could you not have done a little 'dusting' ??

That is my little joke as I too am totally addicted and 'the dust grows high in my house'

I 'save' it for my 3 year old grand-daughter who 'loves' to dust and I don't like to deprive her !! (Tee hee).

She comes every Friday and does a very good job !!

Just wonderd if your house was as bad !!??
