Thanks a lot Dea,
That website looks very helpful. I have found other people who had the same ancestors as me and they backed up the information. I have found that Elizabeth Gooch's maiden name was Markham and she was born about 1758 and she was buried on 20 May 1849 in Cockfield, Suffolk, England. She was married to John Gooch who was born about 1760 and he was buried on 26 Jan 1837 in Lavenham, Suffolk, England. I have looked on familysearch.org to try and find the names of their parents but there were lots of Elizabeth Markhams and John Goochs born about then. I found the record of their marriage on 11 Oct 1785 but I don't know how to find out who their parents were. Can you help please? It also looks like Mary Gooch was a single mother but I think she may have had another son called John in 1828 but he died at about two weeks old. Is there any way to find out the names of Samuel and John's fathers?
Thanks,
David

Oh one thing I found out...
One of my second cousins is also tracing his family tree. He said that his grandfather - Maurice (Harry and Emma's son) - always said that his mother's maiden name was Emma Hammond not Emma Marshall. I looked up birth of Emma Marshall and didn't find any born in Stow Suffolk, but I have looked in the trees on here and found two people with an Emma Hammond born in 1863 in Stow Upland, so could anyone find the record with her getting married?
Thanks,
David

I think John Gooch's parents were John Gooch born roughly 1729 and Ann Jeffries born 1733, but I'm not sure. I found it on familysearch.org but there were a few. Any way I can find out which one?
Also I think Elizabeth Markham's parents were Thomas and Elizabeth - but I don't know their DOBs, DOMs or DODs or Elizabeth Jr's MMN.
I also think Samuel Gooch had a brother called John but he died two weeks old. It said John's mother was Mary Gooch on the cosford database but there was no father.
Any help would be much appreciated
David
