1871 & 1881 census look up - Leicester

All the census entries below are correct as far as Walter Snoad is concerned. He was working on a stud farm in Hampshire in 1871.
In 1881, he and his young wife, Elizabeth Jane Ravenhill born in Leominster, were boarding in Shropshire. Elizabeth was using her nickname of 'Bay May' or 'May Bay'? which probably sounded like 'Mary'?
Was that the name of one of Walter's favourite horses maybe? Bizarre.
