Find Ancestors

My grandfathers parents were called Mary and Michael Dempsey. They came over to the UK in the early 1900's from Ireland. My grandfather was born in 1922 In Ince Wigan Lancashire and was the youngest of 4 as i know of! Names: Annie, Catherine, John and Thomas my Grandfather. I know Thomas was born in Ince but the others i just don't know, i just presume!! I don't know anything else really only Thomas maried Mary and had 4 children Michael, John, Marlene and Patricia all stayed in and around Wigan. No-one seems to know where Mary and Michael came from only it was Ireland. Any idea where i can go from here? I am going to visit the Wigan History Shop but i don't know where else to look! Hello Ann, I have no idea of the maiden name, i am really stuck here. I hope to visit some cemetries this weekend and try and find them. I will get back in touch if i find your match. Did she settle in Wigan Lancs?

Dont know anything about her it was just something I picked up from one of the lancashire databases.

Had a good look around and have perhaps narrowed it down to either Dunn or Dix! . Neither of them are listed with all of the children and i cannot find Thomas born 1922 any where. Can anyone else? Thomas Dempsey Ince wigan 1922!!

Dempsey is predominiatly (excuse spelling)a Wexford name my gran was mary dempsey(mn) from wexford town but i found this on 1911 nationalrchives for dublin censes only dublin up and running yet.
DEMPSEY MICHEAL(HEAD) AGE 26 LABOURER.
DEMPSEY MARY E AGE 26 WIFE
DEMPSEY CATHERINE MOTHER AGE 48WIDOW.
LACKEN JAMES NEPHEW AGE 12 SCHOLER.
MICHEAL AND MARY MARRIED 5 YEARS NO CHILDREN.
ALL BORN IN DUBLIN CITY.

Thats great stuff. My aunt thinks all their Children were born here, so that would fit!! I need to jog her memory. I have looked where you said, but it is a long shot, Dempsey is not an uncommon name and mary is even more so... If anyone has any further ideas please post them Thanks
