When I looked (quickly) at the 1911,it seemed as though Elizabeth Smith in Lewisham was born in Hollesley,so I think this must be the same Elizabeth Church.

She's a single servant in Lewisham in 1891.

Samantha Report 10 Sep 2009 22:03

how could elizabeth church age 13 be a daughter in law?

sam

Samantha

Samantha Report 10 Sep 2009 22:13

so the info that Maureen found for me, saying she is a daughter-in-law, mean that her mum was a may?

im confused over that

MaureeninNY

MaureeninNY Report 10 Sep 2009 22:13

The 1901 says Daisy was born in Hither Green, so I'd guess she's this one:
Births Dec 1893
Smith Daisy Elizabeth Lewisham 1d 1131

Potty

Potty Report 11 Sep 2009 16:19

Daughter-in-law on a census often meant Step-daughter, so Elizabeth could be the daughter of Susan's first marriage to a Mr Church. There is quite a gap between her and the next child.

Samantha

Samantha Report 12 Sep 2009 17:47

Hi

Yeah, the 3rd child for me, I must be made hahaha.

she's due 22 sep, so its a waiting game.

Thankyou potty & chris, I am good at getting to this stage but going back even further, I am just useless.

SPALL does seem to be the maiden name.

Hi Maureen

Yeah I think that I will stop at 3 children, Im quite happy with that number.

I know I have been doing this on and off for a yr of 2 but i really dont understand everything still, and going back further then the 18 centries is not my strong area, the same for the death record, i know that sounds silly.

may i ask what does ROFL stand for?

If SPALL seems right then that the next certificate I shall order.

Thankyou for you time it does mean alot

Hi Samantha,
I'm sorry. That was just my pathetic attempt at making a "pregnant joke"-i.e.you're good at getting this far but going back further .........Never mind (ROFL is rolling on the floor laughing).

It IS difficult going back pre-census and registration. After you get Elizabeth's birth cert and determine that Susan and James are indeed her parents, this may help:

I think we're going to have a little trouble with James CHURCH,though.
I'll post suspects in my next message.
