Help does anyone have anything on Alfred Mounty born 1839 Maiden Bradley. Have his marriage but cannot find a death!

Penny

Penny Report 29 Jan 2008 21:13

ok, well that time frame is rather more time consuming to lookup - have had a quick look at 1920 but No, so will look at other years tommorow ( too tired now)

No other clues that you can think of that would give a year to their marrying?

perhaps you'll pop back tommorow and see if anyone has found it

Yes, Georgina, the surname is Short. That is the name I have been searching for. A typo, mea culpa, that sort of thing just never happens around here.

I'm sure you're happy with the little show Minnie is putting on. Who doesn't love a little attention?

A farewell guess:

Births Sep 1908
Collins Elsie May Chard 5c 321

Penny Report 29 Jan 2008 20:33

Ok, a bit of scandal - !!

what sort of 'when' was this Elsie may born please

Georgina1982

Georgina1982 Report 29 Jan 2008 20:27

Minnie
The story is that Florence Legg and her step dad Robert Collins had some kind of a fling which resulted in florence having a daughter by him Elsie May Collins.
She then went onto marry Walter Short, So thats why her surname could be either Collins or Legg

Penny

Penny Report 29 Jan 2008 20:27

Georgina - back to where we were

how did Florence end up named Collins?

Georgina1982

Georgina1982 Report 29 Jan 2008 20:26

Kathryn, there is no need to get like that for me, i am completey happy with the help that Minnie is giving, me and the surname is Short not Scott,

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 29 Jan 2008 20:18

Suspected as much. Legg was Florence's birth surname? There is no Walter Short - Florence Legg marriage --

http://www.freebmd.org.uk

And there's no Walter Short - Florence marriage showing up in Dorset -- it could be in the still untranscribed part of the index.

So if we know Walter had a stepdaughter, might we know what her surname -- and thus Florence's first married surname -- was?

Do you know the stepdaughter's full name, for finding her birth, to help date the marriage?

Middle names for Walter and Florence? Anything else you might know that would help to find them and it would have made sense to disclose in the first place?

Penny

Penny Report 29 Jan 2008 20:16

the story could be important because florence presumably was married to her father? hence wont have remarried as a Legg
