Hi All
Hope some kind sole out there can help!!!!!!
Have been looking for a Husband for my Grandmother Mary Elizabeth Evers born on 15th May 1900 in Liverpool(8b 515)
Or a father of her five children, my dad Kevin was the youngest,
born again in Liverpool on 10th September 1938.
I have looked in all the obvious places but after almost a year of trying and getting nowhere I am fast running out of ideas....
My dads' side were very secretive and never said a word to us kids about the past, and with dad being the youngest of five most of the older aunties and uncles were not about to question.
My dad died in 1984 and took all the skeletons with him.
Since looking for my family I have found out that my nan Mary had a brother called Richard who we ever knew about either so more mystery there.....
Anyone got any clues as to where to look next??????????
Thanks for your time
Christine

And what does it say the fathers name is on your father Kevins birth cert?

What was his surname?

Flick

Flick Report 17 Jul 2010 22:03

Was he Kevin G Evers?

If so, his mother was not married................so I'm afraid you will never know the name of his father. Do you have Kevin's birth cert?

Mother not married,so no doubt a blank for fathers name on birth cert.

You will not find a marriage and unless a family member knows who his father was you have no chance of finding out I am afraid.

Hi ,
Sorry his surname is given as Evers but the cetificate we have is only a standard copy I think the originals stayed with his mum who died in 1999,
all paperwork missing???
Marys' name on the census' for 1911 is Evers daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Evers!!

Thanks

Hi Flick
Yes it was sorry for being slow new to this type of board

But Kevin was her youngest and in 1911 she was a widow so Evers must have been her married name ?

Christine

Christine Report 17 Jul 2010 22:19

Hi Micheal
In 1911 Elizabeth, Mary' mum was listed as a widow.
and her (Marys) brother Richard was living at home with Elizabeth.
Mary had beensent to the poor house

Sorry Flick. got my Elizabeths and Mary Elizabeths mixed up.

Still if Kevin was the youngest of 5 and he was born with his mother's maiden name, that seems to suggest that ALL her children had no father officially .

Flick

Flick Report 17 Jul 2010 22:52

Without doubt...............and that would explain the unwillingness to discuss family background on the part of Christine's father etc

Christine

Christine Report 17 Jul 2010 22:54

Thanks for that FannyByGaslight will give it try but I know with her older son Thompson b. in 1919 according to the war graves website, she had Thompsons' father named as
Thomas Evers... the plot thickens there was no Thomas Evers around at the time as no marriage. I know women used to use the surname of the father for the child born out of wedlock so there is a possibility there I suppose

Christine

Christine Report 17 Jul 2010 22:55

Thats the conclution I am coming to Micheal so whoever he was had to be around for at least 19 years......

Flick

Flick Report 17 Jul 2010 22:57

There may not have been only one..............sorry, but it has to be considered.
