This is getting confusing. Do I have it right? She emigrated to Canada as Amy Lewington in 1911, Married Andrew James Fraser, 1914 in Canada. Returned to England 1920 with daughter Hazel, no husband, intending to make permanent residence in England. Returned to Canada 1935, alone? But this in a pm from David
"I have a newspaper cutting with a picture of her meeting the Mayor of Gillingham on a trip she made back to England after 42 years in Canada. There is no date on the paper! She had 7 children and 32 grand children. "

This is VERY doubtful as she would have been 50yrs but Im affraid you have to rule everything in until you can rule it out..as in, you need to buy the marriage cert to see if her father is Andrew James...
England & Wales, Marriage Index: 1916-2005 about Hazel A Fraser Name: Hazel A Fraser Spouse Surname: Needham Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1964 Registration district: Hendon Registration county (inferred): Middlesex Volume Number: 5e Page Number: 1265 Find Spouse: David J
Just checked, there are children that could be from this marriage so I'm 99% certain its NOT your Hazel grrrrrr

PS Hazel was born 1915 and was 5 years on the immigration record...I got it wrong!

David, this is Amy's mother inlaw. She is going out for a 'visit' to see Andrew Fraser - son. Andrews address is 667 Vaughan Street Toronto Ont;
She is living in Norwich and gives her brother as the English contact
Which means Andrew is still alive, we just need to find Amy???

Hi Margaret
I dont know too much about Canadian records except what I have picked up reading threads on here
I think 1911 is the last record we are likley to find and it looks like they both missed that census!
Are births/deaths witheld for 100 years...or have I just made that up!
One thing bugging me though. Why cant I find the immigration records of the husband Andrew and his family?

There is an Andrew on the 1911 census in Canada but he's just a boarder. He's 18 but says born in Scotland and emigrated 1910. Don't think it's him?

Hi, I have written to Andrew and will let you know the response. Whilst searching through my mothers papers, I came across another news cutting regarding William Lewington, Amy's brother, born 1886. It states that he was Prime Warden in London and also that he was a foorball referee and he refereed 27 international matches. Is there a search place for either of these things. ie Mayors of London or Referees?

Re David's queries: I don't think Prime Wardens were Mayors, but I've never heard of a Prime Warden before - maybe he worked at Greenwich and his job was to see that no one pinched or moved the prime meridian.
