Have searched via Scotland's People many times and just cannot find the following family. Could understand that they might have been out of the country, but not all at once!

GORDON
James born c1790 Ireland ( possible that he might have died by 1851)
Jane born C1791 Ireland
Henry born 1835 Ireland
Ellen born c1836 Ireland
Robert born c1837 Ireland
Francis born c 1842 Ireland
Thomas born 1844 Lanarkshire ( Scotland)

As Thomas was born in Lanarkshire ( Glasgow) I am surmising that the family would be there.
I have Jane, Ellen, Francis and Thomas in 1861 in Glasgow Springburn.
Henry and Robert married by then and James had certainly died before 1857.
It's driving me nuts so any help gratefully received.

Am assuming that they arrived in Scotland between 1840 and 44. Although I have Francis birth as 1842 that's by no means certain.

Main things I want to find out are date of James death and where in Ireland thaey are from. If I can narrow down the death years I can check with the church records in Glasgow.
The Irish connection is more difficult. I have Tyrone via another source, but can't find any marriage or birth records

It may be worth checking the Poor Relief records as Jane may have claimed if she was widowed or in ill health. These records are held at the Mitchell Library in Glasgow and are indexed. If you are lucky enough to find your Irish ancestors on these records they often give the birth county in Ireland and sometimes even the parents' names.

The records are not available online.

EDIT

The Mitchell Library also has burial records for Sighthill Cemetery, which is the most likely one for James to be buried in if he died while they were living in the Springburn area.

Apologies if you receive this twice. Dropped the link somehow. Have already tried the Mitchell and planning a trip there soon.
The frustrating thing is not finding anything in the Irish records despite the fact that I think they come from a small place called Donaghmore in Tyrone. ( well it was small then- probably huge now)
