Mildred posted ..................

"The issue was not about that people shouldn't have a right to complain, but to keep such threads in once place rather than have various threads clogging the boards about the same thing.

IMHO that itself is breaching T&C by posting the same thing more than once & flooding the board whilst doing so. .. "

However, that T&C only applies to ONE person posting multiple threads on the same topic.

It does not apply to SEVERAL people starting threads on the same topic.

............. and one always has to remember that a person with a grievance will not search any board to see if anyone else has reported the same topic ................. he/she will just start their own thread, right NOW!

I doubt they even look down the first page of the board they think is appropriate to see if anyone else has posted about the same grievance

After all, this Suggestions Board has around 500 posts ........ who is going to search through all those, when there is not a very good "Search" facility. And, anyway, any search depends on exactly the same words being used in titles.

It applies all over the boards, and on all kinds of topics!

.............. and even GR staff are not immune to it.

Remember the thread that Estelle started on General to discuss that TV series ..... when there was already an on-going thread?

Not that I don't agree that there ARE too many threads on similar or the same topic being spread around.

Part of the problem is that there quite a few new posters ............... long time members from the date, but never been on the boards before, at least according to the number of posts ........... and they just do not know where to post.

So we have boards supposed to be for specific purposes .............. but somehow either that purpose is not clearly stated OR people just post on the first board they see. Which is General Chat ...............

....... or do they play eenie meenie minie mo??

sometimes, I think it is the latter!

I do remember being told off several times over the years by some members because I was one of the people who used to suggest to those who posted a "looking for" thread on General that it would be better if they posted on Find Ancestors or Genealogy Chat

...................... it was said that everyone should have the right to post wherever they wanted. :-)

it would be so much better if GR would tell us why our posts have been taken off the boards,i dont want a name, just a reason. i really dont understand why my thread,a suggestion thread on a sugestion board was deemed offensive.i really do believe that it was a dig at me and not my thread. :-D

Have they not told you Suzanne? I thought you were going to ask?

If you scroll back you will see what happened when I asked... some of us do get answers when we persist.

- I hope not a practice.

Useful information that has been reported and that I hope will be reinstated very soon.

Suzanne

keep on emailing

you have to be persistent

usually you get a "personal" response instead of the standard one after the 3rd or 4th email.

Joy,

Either way it should not have gone missing.

If an itchy finger I hope that GR gives the member a warning.

If done for a practise then they choose the wrong thing to remove.

Actually surprised that it has not been reinstated by now.
