Margaret

WW1 records are on Ancestry, if you don't subscribe please give some more details, when & where born etc.

I have looked and there are some possibles , but without more detail he cannot be identified.

But please be aware that 70% of these records were destroyed by enemy action in WW2, so its always a bit of luck for those that survive.

Margaret, Please stick to one thread as repeated threads for the same family will only serve to duplicate info and thus waste members time and resources

Hi Roy
I am sorry if I have confused any member
I have only posted one thread for my grandad Henry/Harry poynton died 1979, born 1897. Died in Gateshead but think born Murton
I just wanted to do my family tree for my grandchildren so they can have a record of my past
I appreciate your reply and apologise if I keep getting it wrong

ErikaH Report 3 Jan 2014 12:57

He was HENRY when he married in 1921

J P Wilson's probable death is on one of the other threads - he was a Marine

And only 70% of WW1 records survived......so the chances of finding this man's are limited, to say the least
