I have traced Anns family to Scotland and no siblings/ aunts uncles/ cousins. Still no clues.

Ann's family died in maidenhead and Bracknell.
Addresses were council houses so now relocated and no family there.

Still no trace of Ann or Michele after 1969. This is what I am looking for.

Ann MacDonald cole born 1952 Scotland. Loving 60 Sunderland road, maidenhead in 1969. Daughter of Alexander Mitchell Sinclair.

Michelle Ann cole, born 5th April 1969 at hospital in Windsor(70 Alma road, Windsor). Daughter of Ann cole nee Sinclair and Ronald cole.

I have Ronald and his other family. Nothing on Michele since 1969.

Looking for Michele...
Anything after her birth.

Lisa

Lisa Report 28 Apr 2023 20:16

I have the parents marriage certificate and Michele's birth certificate but can't see any clues.

The father didn’t re-marry, so you need to consider that there wasn’t a divorce, which would mean the mother couldn’t legally re-marry (as I said earlier). She could, though, have changed her surname and that of Michele to fit with a new ‘partner’
She could have returned to Scotland………..

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 19 Apr 2023 10:20

There were 4 Ann M Sinclair births registered in Scotland - 2 in 1951, with middle names Margaret and Morrison, and 2 in 1952 with middle names Margaret and MacDonald.

Is Michele's middle name Ann?

Have you or any other family member registered with the Adoption Contact Register, in case she was adopted and might be looking for her birth family?

For England/Wales:

For Scotland:

ArgyllGran Report 19 Apr 2023 10:12

If she was adopted, there's no way you (or we) can find her online.

If her mother kept her, and later remarried, Michele's surname may have been changed to that of the stepfather.

Does the marriage cert give the mother's middle name - which might help find a remarriage?

Lisa

Lisa Report 18 Apr 2023 22:37

So I have the parents marriage certificate. It arrived today.

That hasn't given me any more clues really.

The mother was born in Scotland on 1952. Age 16 when she married in 1968

Witness at wedding not listed on any electorial registers.
Father of bridge listed in Scotland and died in 2004.
No one at addresses of couple with similar or familiar names.
No same name at father's address of death.

Now I have confirmed parents marriage. I have applied for Michele's birth certificate for dob and am.hoping if adopted it will tell me.

Is there anywhere else I can look please?
Where would you recommend I search for Michele please.

Thanks on advance

Locations vary

For instance I was born in london.lived in Tunbridge wells and Birmingham during ww2 then back to SE London till late 60,s then we moved to Kent where I have been ever since

Hubby too moved around in his younger years including living in Torquay Devon

Peoples circumstances and events often meant moving around :-D

Re remarriage of the mother -

There are lots of marriages for women named Ann M Cole, from 1970 onwards.
Any one (or none) of them could be hers.
It's impossible to tell without buying lots of certs.
Location isn't necessarily a clue nowadays, when people move around so much.

For the same reason, you can't rule out the Sinclair/Pauly birth on grounds of "wrong location".

No apparent re-marriage for the father

The only document which will help, as far as I can see, is the 1968 marriage cert

If the mother knew her father's details, they will be recorded, and may help to identify her birth
The names of the witnesses may be helpful
It will also give you her second forename............

Yes. I am not sure if they divorced.

Unfortunately Ron died a few years ago and I didn't think to ask him before he died. It was a bit of a shock.

I haven't found any evidence of a divorce or any remarriage. I have no proof either way for this. I suspect they divorced but without evidence anything is possible.

I am looking at all avenues in hope

ErikaH Report 8 Apr 2023 10:09

You say the parents separated - not that they divorced. If they didn't divorce, the mother couldn't legally re-marry

I had missed the possible sister.

I can find no further trace of her though.... ??

18 year olds got the vote in 1969 so both Ronald and Ann should have been on the Electoral Roll.

You need to bear in mind the following. Ann may not have coped and had Michelle adopted.
Ann may have taken another man’s name and also given it to Michelle.
They may have emigrated.
