Ann,

They were £14 each - i.e. £28 for two, with no delivery charge.

I think that is quite reasonable. (Did expect them to be more really!)

Are they very expensive Elisabeth? having just paid out for the topper and this morning for a fireproof box, and yesterday for flights to Tenerife, the sheets may have to wait until next pay day!! still pleased with the topper, so comfy and we do sleep better.

Update on sheets for deeper mattresses.

We have had quite a deep mattress for a couple of years, and I found it too firm. We bought a mattress topper and had the increased problem with sheets. I have been using flat kingsize sheets (on a double mattress) instead of a fitted sheet. They are a pain, as they do come untucked.

Anyway, someone mentioned deep sided fitted sheets and I ordered some from John Lewis online on Thursday. I had a despatch confirmation email this morning, when I logged on, and before I had finished reading it, the courier was ringing the doorbell.

I have just tried the sheet and it fits beautifully. I expect the topper will still walk around a little, but at least the bedmaking will be easier.

Hi Ann.
The smell will wear off in a few weeks. I have been using one for a few months now and do not wake up with a bad back anymore. The only thing i found is that it tends to move quite a lot and needs to be pulled back over hubbies side of the bed.

Regards.
Alyson

Sorry i deleted the post above as i sent the same message twice.

One temporary (I hope) problem is the smell. Like new carpets settees etc, a sort of chemical smell. I am hoping it will soon wear off.

I remember when Muffy got hers and I asked about it......one thing that worried me too, like Mandy, that it would be too hot, I sleep warm enough as it is......I did go to the Ideal Home last year with the intention of getting more info, and perhaps getting one if any deals were on.........but came back with something entirely different....

Well, it was very comfortable and soft, but not too soft if you know what I mean. I took ages to get to sleep because I always do when anything is strange about the bed, but once asleep I slept well. didn't get too hot but I noticed the topper has 'stay cool' stamped on it so don't know if that is significant. Our was £128 including postage on line and was ordered on Sunday and delivered Tuesday.
I will look out for the deeper sided sheets. Ours stayed tucked in OK but only just.

Liz,

Thanks for advice. We had thought of trying Mattressman as they are now so near, also Bensons, cos I love an excuse to look round Roseby's! Will let you know how we get on.

Mandy the memory foam mattress does make you warm, even me, a chilly mortal at the best of times. There are deeper sided sheets being made now, I can't remember which leaflet I saw them in but if you google maybe you can find them, they make life so much easier and stay nice and smooth don't they? Flat ones come untucked and stuff lol
Frances, we got ours at the bed place near Homebase at Roundtree way, so your neck of the woods, think it might have been Bensons. There is a new Mattressman store opened up here too and they do them I think, but at cheaper prices.
I am pretty certain at Bensons you can have the mattresses on a trial basis. Don't forget to get a mattress cover as they mark easily - don't ask, not me!

Hi Ann

I will look out for this thread tomorrow to get an update! I've been very tempted to get a memory foam topper as we've got memory foam pillows and they're lovely, but I do get quite warm and I'm afraid I'll be too hot with the memory foam under me. I also wondered about the fitted sheets, perhaps I could get some flat sheets cheaply.

Mandy :)

We are going out this weekend to look at the memory foam mattresses. I have had a bad back for years and recently have had a flare up of my old problem. It is worst at night when I am in bed and I really struggle in the mornings. It eases off during the day, as walking seems to help, but as soon as I come home and sit on my comfy chairs or go to bed it gets really bad again. OH has bought me a new computer chair today, cos I have been unable to sit at my puter for more than 10mins.
I am really hoping that a new mattress will help sort it out.

Tell you after I've been to bed BC. Thanks Karen.

sue, I would be sneezing all night on feathers and my eyes would itch, lovely as it sounds.

Mind you our mattress is very thick and with the topper on the fitted sheet was only just big enough.
