You should be covered for any water damage to your house. However, a large hole had to be dug in my back garden to access the leaking pipe and my insurance wouldn't have covered that work but, I never received a bill anyway.

Kay is right of course about any leak outside your boundary you wouldn't be billed.

My wc is supplied directly from the cold mains water pipe NOT via the supply tank in the roof space. Depends on type of water supply system you have in your property.

In all houses the water supply to at least your kitchen tap has to be direct from the mains not via cold water tank in your roof (unless a cowboy builder has messed things up in the past) so because of this as you have little water to the cold tap in your kitchen it mean (to me anyway) that the fault is external

To be on the safe side make sure you know where the house stop cock is - prob' under sink just in case the leak is inside the house (sounds like external tho). Good luck resolving the problem

And, for everyone else it's a good idea if you all know where your inside house stopcock is - surprising how many people don't. Same goes for gas and electricity

As Ronald says, make sure you know where your stopcock is, together with gas and electricity.

It is also a good idea to turn a stopcock off and on at regular intervals, as they do stick if not used. If you have a major leak in the house, you need to be able to turn it off.

there may be nothing more serious than an external air lock in the main piping out side.....because of water changes in pressure and by moring could have righted its self,

,,,but caution is word needed,,,,,,,,,,,

I've found out that when the central heating isn't switched on the pressure returns to the taps. Any more suggestions?

Ron2

Ron2 Report 30 Jan 2008 20:04

Problem could be down to a Combi boiler (if you have one)

Anne

Anne Report 31 Jan 2008 19:32

Just thought I'd let you know that the problem with the pressure on my taps has been sorted. I have a combi boiler and the pressure 'thingy' needed adjusting. Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply and all the advice given.
