Hello everyone hope you are all keeping as well as you can be.

My son had a letter from the Primary Care Mental Health Service on Sat. 4/6/11 to say that his GP had referred him, however he has to phone them on Monday with the aim of making an appointment which they say maybe between 4 to 6 weeks.

I got some Rescue Remedy for him from local chemist and it cost £6-90 and in another chemist it was only £4-90 if it does him good I don't mind the cost but £2 difference :-( :-(.

Thank you all for support .

See you on the beach then Anne. Forever' hope the rescue remedy helps, sure it will. Big difference in price from one shop to another. Were they the same brand? Bach is good. Tinkers with practice the breathing will help. Just keep at it.
Saw Dutch has fell and hurt her legs, hope she gets over the pain of that soon.
Took Mum out for lunch today, with our daughter and her boyfriend. It was nice. Four days at work then some holiday time off.

Thanks Karen, there has been a lot of suport given on here over the years. I think it would be good for the NHS to be able to offer this sort of suport. You can be anon' (can't spell!) or like some of us after a while have phoned or even met up. We have been able to offer help with understanding while always recomending people to get proper medical help. I have been on a few courses to help me with anxiety and confidence building but it is such a let down when the courses finish.

Tinkers pleased to hear the new pills are helping. It's frequent to start on a lower dose and build it up.

Tinkers, it seems your doc is being prudent, increasing the dosage slowly, glad you're feeling well enough to go out for a meal, have a chuckle with your friends, laughter helps too.
We had a busy weekend -starting off I sprained my ankle at the school, then broke a toe on the other foot - then had a lawn sale to raise funds for miniMary's baton club. The rain started aboiut 3 hours in, then really starting pelting down with a high wind, so there went any further sales and a lot of stuff ruined, BUT in only 3 hours they managed to raise over $200, and the best part is that I've cleared a lot of things from my house. Carole, thanks for asking, C's job thus far is going really well. She is working for an agency who run group homes for children in foster care, they have made a decision to establish a group home for foster children with special needs, most having autism. She is to be manager/therapist/programme director, all of which is right up her alley. We are now looking for toys, books,DVD's, and upholstery foam at a good price( so they can pad the walls in one room, for a sensory room, esp for aggressive kids and those who bang their heads on walls). I've rounded some up on Freecycle which helps bring down the cost, she has loads to do to get it ready for opening next week, on a tight budget.. Somehow of course I am helping . . . . do some baking for the sale and all sold well, 2 neighbours have already asked me for more of 2 items LOL - don't want to get bored.
My big news is that last evening, C's ex FIL took us all out for dinner at a local restaurant, where they were having a contest. believe it or not, and don't laugh, I won a $12,000 Kawasaki ATV (all terrain vehicle). Have to send the papers by registered mail today. Much as I know it would provide entertainment for me to keep it and ride it around, I will sell it, which will help enormously with the cost of major house repairs which need done. Once it's sold, that will be a load of my shoulders. C's FIL who has early alzheimers and is wobbly on his feet, wants to ride on the back of the ATV!!!
Group hug,
Mary

Tinkers sounds as if you are getting there.

Karen, yes, the people on here do a great job, I am fortunate in that I don't have depression so a bit of an imposter really but I like to think I help things along and I have made some lovely friends.

mary Wow, well done, great news, what a help that money will be, could not have gone to a more deserving person.

AnninGlos Report 7 Jun 2011 13:39

Tinkers it sounds as if because you were so enjoying yourself that wiped out fears of the problems returning. Of course not saying you imagine it but that something 'better' is needed to swamp the bad feelings.

You'll have to go out every night, nothing else for it :-D :-D :-D

Hello everyone, it's a really slow day at work so I popped in to read the posts. Haven't been on here for months but have been reading. Nice to see some new people.
For those who don't know me I live in Sydney (Australia) where of course it is winter at the moment and the early hours of the morning for those over there (probably very late at night for Mary).
I have the type of bipolar where you don't get extreme highs, but very deep lows. I'm on doxepin (one of the older tricyclic type) and Epilim (valproate) which as well as being an anticonvulsant also works to prevent hypomania. I have only had one bad one of those but it was really, truly frightening.
My new photo is near where I live. The mighty Parramatta River and one of the bridges over it with the commuter ferry for those who like a leisurely journey to the city.

xx and {{{{hugs}}}} to those who need them.

Hello Colin

I get comfort from these boards because I have an adult son who suffers from severe anxiety and O.C.D. and has no faith whatsoever in the Medics although he's been so bad this last few weeks I managed to get him to agree to go with me to see GP.
We have an appointment on 10/6/2011 for assessment with Primary Mental Care nurse although he isn't holding out any hopes of ever feeling better. He's had this problem since very early teens and is very good at hiding how he feels to outsiders.

Take care and hope to see you around boards.

:-)
