everyone who has one will tell you they are the biz. I have a feather mattress topper which is fantastic - like getting in a cosy nest when you go to bed

~~~~~waves~~~~ to Ann... yes, I like the feather toppers as well.... but they make me sneeze, so I use a thick double duvet as a topper (our bed is super king size so there is room for all the cats, lol) and that is good, fits the mattress just nicely... I didn't get the memory topper cos I have been erm, glowing for Britain, although that is easing as I get older!!
I have one of the memory foam one and its the BEST buy we have ever bought. Both OH and me have back problems but we have each had a massive improvement since we got the mattress some 3 months ago.I dont get up with a stiff and locked back anymore.
My Chiropractioner is impressed and she wants to get one too when finances allow .
I bought it off the Ideal World Shopping Channel. cost for a double £108 plus p&p of £8.95
Hi Daff!! don't forget to give me instructions on how to get to your house - I'll be travelling A48 through Castleton - I presume I turn right at the traffic lights before I get to the big intersection. Hate motorways me!
I am so glad you've asked this question Daff! I've been looking online for one. We have a super kingsize bed too, and it's one of those adjustable jobbies. I only want a topper for my side as I suffer from sciatica.
There are SO many on the market and with such huge price differences, but I suppose you get what you pay for. I've seen some cheap ones on eBay, but they look so shallow, I think I read somewhere that they should be a minimum of 3cms, but 7cm is better.
Best Wishes,
Julie
Hi Julie.. my mum's bed is only 2ft 6ins wide... she is tiny! I have been eyeing them up for me, but need to stop the glowing, it would seem, lol... I didn't know that about the depth... thanks, that could make all the difference, couldn't it?
Daff - if you go to the QVC UK website you will find a number of mattress toppers starting at £95 - you get a 30 day money back guarantee - delivered to your door - and collected if you don't like it. You can even use it to find out if you do like it or not and still send it back! You would have to pay the postage costs though
Joy I missed you there, ~~~~~~ thanks for that info.
They didn't do 2ft 6in memory foam mattresses when my mum bought her bed last year... and mum was determined to have a 2ft 6, not 3ft bed!! Stubborn Besom!! But she is now looking at the overlay... I have to say I'm a bit concerned about whether she would need a footstool to climb into it... and that is a serious comment, lol!! Still.. I have made her wait so I can get more info... I phoned earlier and she was on her way to Dunelms on the bus to get one, the daft 'aporth!! I'm taking her out on Tuesday, now... we can get it online, but she still wants to feel them in real life, lol!!
OH was very concerned the topper would be too hot for him as hes the one who gets hot flushes lol. He loves the topper tho and says he would take it with him on holiday cos he doesnt want to sleep on anything else.
Neither of us find it too warm ,just heaven to sink on to!!.
My husband wants one Daff, we both have back problems. I might have a look in the new Argos book.
We had a mattress topper, bought from the Daily Mail, but it caused me to have breathing problems, the chemicals in the foam.
We went to a reliable bedding shop, and was advised to buy a Sealy Memory Mattress.
The bedding expert said Sealy thoroughly wash the foam in the mattress to British Standards.
Have had one now for three years, and can thoroughly recommend it. My husband's back problems gone, and it really is comfortable.
I have a memory foam overlay, which is very comfy, and I believe extends the life of the mattress because you are not sleeping directly on it. I bought a zipped mattress cover (to reduce dust mite allergens)which is quite deep and both the mattress and foam fit inside it (although a hidden camera should film the art of 'slipping' a mattress cover over 2 pieces. I have to crawl inside to straighten out the far end of the foam!! ) I vacuum the mattress cover once a week when changing the sheets.
I did find that I was too warm with the foam directly under the sheet, which was the other reason for a full mattress cover. If anyone is interested in these covers email me off-list and I'll give you the name of the company. Aa far as I am concerned, the memory foam was a great investment.
