HiMuffs,

I too was afraid of reaching 40. It was a big year for me anyway: OH served abroad most of that year, youngest started school and i began work as a learning support assistant and teacher training. And I became computer literate and joined Genes.....the rest is history lol!

For me, yes it gave me the impetus to realise i had to get things moving towards what I wanted.

Yep the hormones are getting more messed up but i am definately a stronger person and stand up for myself more!

Muffy Muffy Muffy....what you worrying about 40 for when you still have 27 mths left to enjoy....lol

As you know I wasnt or will be any age gracefully....

I had a great 40th birthday...but when I was about 37...I started to clam down a bit and take life as it comes .....the children was getting older and I refused to worry about money or lack of it....Was just grateful for what I had.............a figure of a 20 year old ....face of 29 yr old......voice of an angel....puleeeeaaaseeeeeee what more couldi want....PMSL...

Fgs, Muffy, what are you worrying about? You aren't even 39 yet lol? Time to start worrying is a week before your 40th birthday - who knows where we will all be then?

I like Eileen's logic, cos it means I was only 50 last summer instead of becoming an oap lol

Wish someone had told my natural bra tho cos it looks as if it has aged to 70!

Enjoy the next months as you have enjoyed the last ones, and stop worrying! It's only a number lol

What're you like?

It's fun being 40! Celebrated with a huge BBQ and loads of champagne! Balloons and banners everywhere - even outside the house (courtesy of my beloved!).

You're as old as you feel and I still feel in my 20's! If you get it in your mind that you're going to turn into an old maid as soon as you reach 40 you will. As far as I was concerned it was just another number.

Enjoy it!

Hi Muffy

40 is just 18 with 22 years experience.

You still feel 18 in your head, but because you are 40 you have a bit more sense and stability than you did at 18.

I think 40 is good. By this age you tend to worry an awful lot less about what people think of you and you have the confidence to do what YOU want to do, not what you think you ought to do to meet other people's approval. You don't give a fig what people think any more.

Yep, the wrinkles start to make their debut, but it's only where your face creased during smiles and laughs in the earlier years. Just think of it this way, the more wrinkles you have or the deeper they are, the happier you must have been. You have a great life to look back on.

Look forward to it Muffy. I used to feel that I wanted to get to 30 and stay there forever, but 40 is better, and I'm 44 now.

Dianne xx

Hi Ann, just been talking to you on another thread, amazing where you keep meeting the best people lol. I too am way beyond forty(1944 baby) - very lucky in that I had my fifth (and last) child when only three month off forty.
Yes .... still a teenager from when I was a teenager - life for teenagers was quite a lot easier then I think.

Go for it Muffy, you've still got a way to go before the honestly not very big now Four Oh

Muffy
That is exactly what I was trying to write down. I will now say what I feel because I'm more confident in myself. I'm sure that confidence grows with age.

The day I was 40 I remember it well. I had the most extraordinary, life enhancing experience with a man who looked like a Greek god......and it all took place on a table in a sewing factory.....

Muffy, being 40 is a doddle......
