Don't get me into that one Liz lol.....took 3 days of 'nagging' to remind him.......He was all for putting a note on the windscreen, til I told him it may be illegal and also that he would have a job getting up to it withought breaking his neck.

I am so pleased that the owner saw things as we did....it could have gone the other way......am now hoping there is no back-lash from neighbours who may know the driver.... if he moans.

OH phoned the company this morning and explained that the said tanker was causng upset ( nicely of course :-).....The owner of the company was most understanding...he said......'What on earth does he think he is doing?......you don't want that parked outside your house!......I will have a word with him and if he does it again let us know.'

So.......Phoning the Company first seems to have been a good idea....although I was ready to park my car there as the next step.

Thanks every-one for your advice......I am now one happy person again :-)))))))

Susan, hi, glad you have calmed down now and can sort this out amicably. Be careful about putting anything on his windscreen, if you can reach that high lol, as apparently even leaving a flyer under a windscreen wiper is illegal, counted as trespassing or something. Got this info from the police when a neighbour kept putting notes on people's cars when they used 'our' carpark.

Hi Susan I hope it all works out for you the polite way. I know just how stressful it can be.

Yes it was my own bay I bought it with the property - it was on the deeds and marked private bay and had a yellow Private Property No Parking sign. It was the Equiv of parking on someones drive.

Susan719813 Report 3 Jan 2008 22:44

Thank you, you lovely peeps for your replies.....had loads of pms on the subject too....

it is stressful.....don't ask me why......most things just glide over me, but others...like this...annoy me till I get in a frazzle.....I am so pleased I was able to discuss it with you all....googling didnt help......will try the calm way first....as has been said...he may not know he is being annoying ( fingers crossed ).

We have had to put up with Lorries all summer due to new houses being built quite a way off...this was just the last straw......

you have all helped calm me down to think things through before taking any action.

Thanks again

Susan

Was that your own alloted Parking space though Maddie?....mind you even if it was you shouldnt have had to sue......I hope it doesnt come to that as I dont think I have the time or patience and it doesnt' help matters to be at loggerheads with neighbours....I avoid it like the plague

Kay???? Report 3 Jan 2008 21:12

Sue dont worry he wont loose his job,but told about his parking,,,,,he may be breaking some H&S if the tanker has residue.,,,,,,,,,the only thing he may loose is if he is claiming parking expenses or night out money and getting home instead,,,,,,,,,,plus if he starts the unit up before 6am he is in the wrong in a residential area...............

Maddiecow Report 3 Jan 2008 21:07

I tried the Calm way with the Transco driver but he was that ignorant he didnt bat an eyelid and felt as his house didnt have off street parking and I didnt have a car at the time it was only right he should use mine!

So many times I wanted to damage the van but held my nerve and sued his company as I couldnt sue him. It was so stressful to come home and find him parked there.

Susan719813 Report 3 Jan 2008 20:59

I don't like getting angry Bob, so I think I will try for the diplomatic way.If that doesnt work I will just have to park there until they get the message and hope my car doesnt get broken into

....taking legal action would wear me out with anger.....Have pm'd you with the contents of the tanker, which as I said earlier have kept from the board for reasons.

Thanks everyone who has listened to my woes and to those who have HGV's and their Oh's who have pm'd me with advice.....Have calmed down somewhat and hope I can sort this without losing some poor soul his job who probably doesn't realise the distress it is causing me.

I think....that as long as it is not overweight/oversized,and not obnoxious materials and there is NO HGV restriction notices on your area, and is not causing a serious obstruction, then I think that a diplomatic solution might be best!!
Any of the above , maybe you COULD take action, legally

how you achieve that, I am not sure!

I dont know about a tanker - but I succesfully sued Transco a few years ago as one of their drivers kept parking their Transco Van in my private bay. Well they settled handsomely out of court.

Is it blocking the light into your properties their are laws about that you could use.

Kay????

Kay???? Report 3 Jan 2008 20:23

try making it difficult for him to park,

,,but def ring the company,,he maybe is getting lorry park expenses,???or night out money,??

If it's flamable I think I would get in touch with the Health and Safety Dept or even the Fire Brigade they could give you adivice.
Failing that could you not park you own car there for a few nights running?

When my husband was tanker driver his depot was very near a residential area and they were not allowed to start up their vehicles before 6am.
