Sounds lovely Sheila, hope you didn't think I was being nosy, just like to know what other people do....

The kids always want something added, so now we have yorkshire puds, mint sauce, sweetcorn, apple sauce, cranberry sauce mashed potatoes.....

Sadly FiL will not be with us for his red green and orange jellies and custard.....but I will make them all the same, and now the grandchildren add their requests for ice cream ......we have mince pies Christmas pud and cream, and one DiL likes fresh fruit salad......and my younger son phoned during the week to ask me to make some of my bacon and mushroom vollys as well, and he wants to take some home for the next day.......well, its only once a year.....

Hi Sally - we're having traditional Xmas Day, just that I'm not cooking it, lol! Boxing Day I'm doing a buffet with home-cooked ham, homemade veggie tarts, various odds and ends (mostly homemade), lemon cheesecake and fresh fruit. Plus I've done a Dundee cake and have mince pies in freezer.

Debating whether to go tonight (Sainsburys open till 11pm) or first thing tomorrow (open 6am!!). I'm not doing Xmas Day dinner - will be buying different stuff, so hopefully may not get killed in the rush for sprouts!!

LesleyB Report 21 Dec 2007 18:17

yuck, yuck, yuck its those sprouts again!!!!!!

the only stress I'm gonna have when I get over there (UK) is to get all my presents. Staying with our daughter & SIL and she has done most of it on line except the veggies which she is getting tomorrow. So I can sit back, well except for looking after the grandaughter lol
BC give my luv to the ould country, and have a baileys or two for me.

lol Mac.....I remember the sugar shortage, and my mate Pam cornered the market around here.....mind you she only did it so her mates would not go without.....if there was a shortage, you always go to Pam....

Went to Tescos as 8.30 and got prodded by the vegetables......no......I got prodded by a woman near the vegetables......she was prodding my bum with her trolley.....I was very polite.....and asked her what she wanted.....she said, can I get there please.....(I was choosing stuff at the time)......I thought you asked and not pushed people, but there you go.....couldn't be nasty to her, she was older than me.....lol....

We didn't have a Tom.....but we did have a Tudor man.....rather, a man in Tudor costume.....he was by the wines and spirits......maybe having a sample of the mulled wine.....

Our bill was 3 x what is usually is, but I am sure we have enough to keep us going for the duration....

Still got to get my sprouts.....got to be fresh - the sprouts, no good if they are wilted.....lovely with a bit of salt, black pepper, butter......lovely little green things.....yum....

I know, you would think there was a *famine alert*.

My OH is very ill today, and son took him to the doctors, then went for the prescription..... THEN went to get a couple of easy meals, milk and the likes.
He was away about an hour and a half... if not more, and most of that time was spent QUEUEING!! Poor lad, he is not that well himself.
