Social worker friend always has said that no matter how educated you are and used to filling in forms - ALWAYS take a form to claim benefit of any kind to the C.A.B. to fill in. Then the next issue is that apparently 80 - 85% of claims are automatically disallowed on presentation - reasoning being that people will be disheartened and will not appeal - thus saving money!!!!!!! |

Appeal Dawn, I am sure they turn you down hoping you wont appeal. My sister can walk some days but not others. When she was here with me she walked all round Cheltenham shopping, she goes up to London and walks round some of the shops. OK she is in pain th next day but she does walk. However she has a mobility allowance, gets her car tax free, has a Disability card for the car etc. She didn't have to appeal but it probably depends where you live, she is in Hampshire. The doctor asked her when he visited, how far can you walk from here? (her back door), and how far can you walk back again. she does have a stair lift she paid for herself so that may have convinced him. But I think you should appeal. |
