I totaly agree with you David if someone no matter who they are has been raped I would want the rapist to be severly punished preferably with a rusty razorblade. However that dose not excuse naming someone as a rapist before they have been found guilty, after all mud sticks

I think that if the accused is named, then the accuser should also be named
if thats not fair then NEITHER should be publicly named until the verdict!!!

To point out a more positive side to this - I read in the paper today the lady that Accused Micheal Flahety - I dont know if I have spelt that right but the Riverdance man, well she accused him and he was found not guilty and she has been ordered to pay 5 Million in compensation plus all the legal costs (its been going on for two years) as she did press interviews etc.

I hope thats a strong deterant to girls thinking of doing this ( and I am in no way belittling genuine rape).

Its unlikely she has 5M but the dancer has said any money he does get he will donate to charity.

I agree Romany these [escort girls] always seem to sell their story to the papers and pretend that they are models

Im always dubious about parties like the ones footballers hold, and escort girls (not that Ive anything against them) saying they were raped. What ANNOYS me is when someone is proven to have committed a crime and the papers wont name them!! Sometimes MP's etc.

these women who falsley accuse people of rape make it harder for the peaple who have been genuinly raped to come forward because they think that they might not be belived

i agree with th is thread
this footballer has been named and shamed sadly
i think its awful that some women will go to these lengths to accuse someone if its not true
hes 19 year old with good future in front of him,
i hope hes innocent

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 19 Dec 2007 20:02

years ago i tended to believe the alleged victim but after meeting a certain person who has in her short life accused about 7 people of rape i always wait for the jury to give their verdict first now if a girl accuseses anybody of this crime and its found to be a lie i think the girl should serve the sentence the alleged rapist would of been given just imagine if it was your loved ones falsely accused i would be devastated

Innocent until proven guilty therefore confidential until guilty...the newspapers in this country love scandal and half truths....oops lets not let truth get in the way of sales
