Carol - have to dispute your statistics, here in the midlands the last white christmas was in 1996 and the one before that was 1981. I make that one every 13 years. I am not complaining - I hate the stuff - its cold, its wet and its bloody dangerous.
Come to think of it the only good place for snow is on Christmas cards.

Whirley when I looked out of bedroom window this morning thought we had some snow...put my glasses on & realised it was just frost. lol

I do like the look of trees with frost on them, they are so lovely, when I worked at Vinehall I loved that bit of road through the forestry.

Were all going on a summer holiday.
No more working for a week or two.
Fun and laughter on a summer holiday.
No more worries for you.
For a week or two.

Were going where the sun shines brightly.
Were going where the sea is blue.
Weve seen it in the movies.
Now lets see if its true.

Everybody has a summer holiday
Doing things they always wanted to.
So were going on a summer holiday
To make our dreams come true
For you.

Sleigh Ride

Just hear those sleigh bells jingling,
ring ting tingling too
Come on, it's lovely weather
for a sleigh ride together with you,
Outside the snow is falling
and friends are calling "Yoo hoo,"
Come on, it's lovely weather
for a sleigh ride together with you.

Giddy yap, giddy yap, giddy yap,
let's go, Let's look at the show,
We're riding in a wonderland of snow.
Giddy yap, giddy yap, giddy yap,
it's grand, Just holding your hand,
We're gliding along with a song
of a wintry fairy land.

Our cheeks are nice and rosy
and comfy cozy are we
We're snuggled up together
like two birds of a feather would be
Let's take that road before us
and sing a chorus or two
Come on, it's lovely weather
for a sleigh ride together with you.

There's a birthday party
at the home of Farmer Gray
It'll be the perfect ending a perfect day
We'll be singing the songs
we love to sing without a single stop,
At the fireplace while we watch
the chestnuts pop. Pop! pop! pop!

There's a happy feeling
nothing in the world can buy,
When they pass around the chocolate
and the pumpkin pie
It'll nearly be like a picture print
by Currier and Ives
These wonderful things are the things
we remember all through our lives!

Just hear those sleigh bells jingling,
ring ting tingling too
Come on, it's lovely weather
for a sleigh ride together with you,
Outside the snow is falling
and friends are calling "Yoo hoo,"
Come on, it's lovely weather
for a sleigh ride together with you.

Giddy yap, giddy yap, giddy yap,

? Bernard - Whirley loves Snow - why the sarcastic post...

Having said that...

Statistics show that in the U.K., we get an official White Christmas about every 4 or 5 years and have real snow at Christmas about 1 in 10 years. (but often this is only in Scotland!)

I can remember many Christmas Holidays, in my childhood, when our school did not open until well into January. I lived in a small village in East Sussex.

Oh No Colin - I believe in Santa and his reindeer.
I just don't believe it snows at Christmas !!!

Staffs Col

Staffs Col Report 19 Dec 2007 16:01

Humbug Bernard next thing you will be telling us Santa aint real and reindeer cant fly

BarneyKent

BarneyKent Report 19 Dec 2007 15:55

Why do people associate Christmas with snow? Apart from places at high altitude, Britain only averages a white christmas once every 15 years thats only 6 or 7 in a century.
But the Retail industry, Show Biz and the makers of calenders and Christmas cards insist on showing everywhere from villages to cities covered in the white stuff. I've even seen illustrations of snow on the roof of the manger and the 3 Wise Men treading in the stuff. Good Grief, the nativity took place in the Middle East !!!!

GET REAL !! ITS FICTION !! IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN !!
