We're going to relatives this year for Xmas dinner and they are having a large crown - it easier for them so I don't blame them - but I much prefer the dark leg meat, so won't be eating much! I usually get a Bronze turkey as they are reared 'properly' and have good chunky legs on them!

Got a nice frozen turkey a while ago just in case there was going to be a shortage.

We eat every little bit of ours. Then the carcase gets made into stock and we have glorious soups.

I do freeze some of the cooked meat to use later in pies and stews though.

Many years ago I took one of our daughters on a playgroup outing to a farm (she must have been aged about 3) and there was a huge turkey in a run. She asked me what it was and when I told her it was a turkey she said "Oh Yum!"

Being a gamekeepers daughter we had lovely home grown chicken, duck or goose at Christmas....................with pheasant and venison too.

We still have home grown veg as we have an allotment.

It would cost a fortune to buy those meats now....................we have a turkey in the freezer for the Sunday between Christmas and New Year when we will do a huge roast for the family.

We meaning my husband will do the actual cooking.......................I hope!!

We're having beef this year, with all the trimmings.Hubby don't eat meat, so it's up to son/daughter what they want, I'm not bothered, eat anything me :)
On boxing day, when family arrive, I usually do a hot/cold buffet. Not got anything in yet LOL so it will be one big frantic rush this weekend :)

We get a mahoooosive one every year which costs us about £35 but they are always lovely and tender.

Hayley i used to work on a farm plucking the turkeys every year after me brother killed em, they stink.

Dont do it anymore it's too cold for me now.
