Piriton is pills for allergies

The itching from an epidural is a common side effect but it drives you nuts. Piriton will ease it until the epi is removed.

Hazel, he'll be walking on it within 48 hours..its remarkably quick.

I had never ever been in hospital in my life before my replacement, so I do understand how anxious he is, but he will be fine I promise. It'll be over before he knows it.

On the day of my op, I showered while everyone had their breakfast, was taken down at 9.30, and back on the ward eating my lunch at 1.00.

Hazel.
If he's had his pre -assessment I hope they took time to explain everything in fine detail with him. I get so annoyed when patients say they don't know. You get all anxious before you meet the doc and then when he/she is in front of you your mind goes blank and you forget all the things you wanted to ask.
PM me when he goes in if you need any advice etc.

Hi Gemqueen ,
yes i know , but it's just a bit worrying for him as
he's never had an op before .
i think the last time he was in hospital was back in the 60s with a broken rib .
iv'e told him it's nothing to worry about
he'll be in and out before he knows it lol

Does he know what type of hip replacement it will be? ie metal on plastic, or non-cement ceramic, or metal on metal?

The nursing and Medical staff won't want the risk of infection from urine getting into the wound. Sorry to be so graphic. lol

Hi All
iv'e just asked OH again about what was done and said and he said that they couldn't get any blood from him at the Abergele hospital where he is going to have the op so when they finished with him he went on down to the main hospital which is Glan Clwyd and they took his blood so that has to be sent back to the Abergele hospital yet.
so maybe thats why he hasn't had a date .

Forgot about that bit (as you do lol)

Yes I had a catheter until the epi had worn off and I was able to get to the loo...so it was about 4 days I think..

My bed was the furthest you could get from the loo in my ward, but at least it was by the window...can't have everything lol
