The Broken Chain

We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name,
In life we loved you dearly,in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again

Love Lisa, Kev, Conor, Reece, Kevin, Kyle, Kieran, Rhiannon & Courtney xxxxxxxxx

the last 2 lines of the verse are on my Mum's headstone. We went to the stonemasons with the details of what we wanted on the stone and I was browsing at the book of photo's of the stones, when I saw that engraved on one and I started crying when I read it. My brother and father read it and we all agreed that it had to go on the stone, Mum was the cornerstone of our family and the lines summed up exactly what we all felt.

I think that is a very lovely thing to have had put on your mums headstone Helen.
I am truly sorry if it has upset you reading the verse with the last 2 lines of it been on your mums headstone.

My nan would have been 96 today Born 3/12/1911.

She also passed away in 1995. (22/01/1995)

Missed her first grandchilds birth by two months (Kyle)
I have also told my children about their great nan, who I think would have smothered them in love.

Remembering both your Grandad and my Nan today.

Thank you Angie
A very good friend helped me pick the perfect poem for my Grandad,
And I am so grateful to her not only for her help finding the poem but listening and talking to me when I was feeling down.
So I would like to say a big thank you to you.
You know who you are.

For you Grandad.

God looked around his garden,
And He found an empty place.
He then looked down upon this Earth,
And saw your tired face.

He put his arms around you,
And lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful,
He always takes the best.

He knew you were suffering.
He knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never,
Get well on Earth again.

He saw that the road was getting rough,
And the hills were hard to climb,
So He closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, "Peace by Thine."

It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn't go alone.
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home

For my loving husband Les, from you wife Wyn
There is never a day goes by when I do not think about you.

A heart as pure as gold.
Meanness not in your soul.
A smile for everyone, even me.
I could just call out your name,
and you'd be there.
I made the mistake of loving you,
and God took you away,
but now I know he only takes the best.
Just looking at your picture
reminds me of that.
I wish I could see you one more time
so I could say I love you
and goodbye.
And to tell you that when God
took you away from me,
a piece of me died that day.
