Is what I am spending on bleedy nit lotions per week.

I'm getting totally hacked off with it.

I get us clear then bingo...... kids go back to school and the same kids are reinfesting all over again !!

As I recall in the 70s if someone had nits the nit nurse would send them home until they were clear. Hence breaking the cycle

I'd happily pay a share to get one back into the school again. Surely it would be cheaper than this?

Anyone else frutstrated with this? xx

Luckily I dont have to deal with it muffy but my sis washes my neices hair with teatree shampoo and conditioner and a combe all year round. I understand it is recommended for keeping the bleeders way.

I have 4 girls and the ones at school went through a similar situation to you, but touch wood been clear for a year, best thing Hedrin, they have never had them since i used it

Yep do all that and I spritz their hair with spray on conditioner too to make their hair a bit slimey which apparently makes it harder for them to cling on to. It's not deterring them.

It's times like this I wish I had boys so I could just lop it all off xxx

Yeah I'm using Hedrin. I've put it on us overnight. It's def the best one I've tried yet xx

Dont bovver with that lot .......

Buy ...Teatree oil and put it in your own shampoo and wash hair ...leave for 2 mins and wash off
add it to your own conditioner and rub in ...leave for 2 mins and wash off
then comb with nit comb.....

if you find lots of lice use teatree oil neat on cotton wool onto head rub on and leave for 10 mins then wash as above ...

4 kids 20 years and it seems to work!!!!!

I've been using tea tree in both mine and the kids shampoo. It's not shifted the critters lol.

Was the height of romance earlier in my house. OH and I rubbing nit cream into each others hair NOT lol - this wasn't how I saw things when we first met that's for sure lol xx

Can you not get it on prescription?

I know when my kid's had them, I went to pick up presciption( abt 20 yr ago though) The woman looked at the address re school and said 'oh I didn't think the kid's there would have them'
Silly woman they are not fussy where they go lol.

My oh was away on buisness at the time and was horrified when I told him we all had to get treated.
He said 'I'm not going about with a purple head' think he got mixed up lol

Hadn't even thought of that Marion to be honest.Doubt very much they'll fund it these days.

It really annoys me that there only has to be one or two parents that just don't bother and the rest of us have to suffer.

I can think of better things to spend £48 a month on that's for sure. xx

hi hun,best trick wash and condition every 2 days,and comb.the nit has a 7 day maturity cycle,if they dont reach adulthood they cant lay eggs.
and boil bedding.it works.xxx

The tea tree stuff is great and smells nice too. But rather than spending out constantly you could get an electric zapper, run it through their hair everyday after school and it should keep things under control.

One of the infant schools here has them and they use them once a week on all the kids.

Hi Muffy, I work with kids and this is definitely nit season. It depends on your stamina but this is what you do to avoid the costs: buy Asda or Tesco Tea Tree Oil Conitioner. Apply this to your child's hair every night and comb through. This removes live bugs and breaks legs of others, sorry, but it stops them reproducing. Do this every few days at the most until spring if not longer. Bugs love clean hair and we all get them. Have been sicked on just recently but not bugged this year yet.....

you can get some free on the minor ailments thingy. will definitely get it for children and if you are on benefits were you dont pay for your prescriptions can get it as well.

Go to chemist with proof of dr and address something like their medical card and they will supply you with some might not be the make you want but will be free. Can also get chemists own brand calpol like that as well.

Saves a fortune when they take it in urns to be ill

bring back the nit nurse, bring back the matron, bring back bleach and disinfectant, bring back the cane and the birch

Excluding the children until they were free of live eggs did keep the numbers down.

I know a few parents who have given up trying to keep their children free of nits and settle for keeping them down to a minimum........................then the whole class gets infected.

This is not a new thing, but not getting on top of it is!!

Speak to the head... en mass if you can. And get it all sorted out.

Poor kids, they don't need this.

Headteacher says children can't be excluded for having nits anymore.
