Whenever you get a similar message it makes sense to check on sites like one of the following. There are a number of hoaxes that go around some of which pretend to be cries for help or money so it isn't just viruses.
I find these sites useful.

for "urban legends" this is good

Errol

That's a good idea it will help a lot of people. It's amazing how many people don't know how to copy and paste especially those who have their first computer. Perhaps you and Colin could do your own Dummies guide for newbies to pc's.

Copy and paste into IE - it's quite a good breakdown of the differences.

Maybe bringing back a thread about Trogans and Worms etc would help peeps like me to understand a bit more about that side of the p c.

I was just wondering if it may be time for a revival of an old thread we once had, it explained the differences between Trojans, Worms, general hoaxes etc etc.

One I had here in the past would have been deleted some time ago,

Hi All :):)

Errol , I agree with you about the self extracting viruses, so many have been caught by those in the past. Just by opening something that contains the self extracting file a virus can enter the computer.

Pauline please leave the thread because it will make people more aware of a number of issues.
