Unfortunately some CDs and DVDs can mess up your settings because they come with their own players.
I would continue to play around with the screen resolution.

I must go and get some work done now but will continue to think of other options.

Move your mouse right over to the extreme right and about halfway up the screen and release.

When you right click on the taskbar it should tell you in the list that pops up whether it is locked or not.

Julie Report 22 Nov 2007 12:08

You need to make sure the taskbar isn't locked before you do this.

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 22 Nov 2007 12:02

lol
One thing you can try however is moving the taskbar to the right of the screen and then moving it back.
Point at a blank space of the bar and press and hold the left mouse button. Drag it over to the extreme right of the screen and release. Then reverse the process.

Right click on a blank portion of the bar across the bottom of the screen and select Properties.
Because I am not in front of an XP machine I can't remember where to frind the following but on one of the tabs on the window that pops up there will be the option to stop displaying the clock (it may be under Notification Area). Stop displaying the clock and click OK. Then repeat the process and set it to display the clock again. This MAY make it display correctly but again, I really need to be sitting in front of my XP machine.

Julie Report 22 Nov 2007 11:31

Errol Thanks...Yes i can now see my cross, but still can't see the end of my clock lol

It's usually a matter of personal preference.

First try Restore. If that doesn't work then try minimising and then maximising.

Julie

Julie Report 22 Nov 2007 11:19

Doh..Im with you now lol

When i click on the Gr bit all that is hi-lighted is
Restore, Minimize or close.

Do you know what the correct desktop display shoud be, as im not sure...When i look at the icons they do look wider

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 22 Nov 2007 11:13

The desktop is the background display you see before you open any programmes.
You may have set it to a picture or it may be one of the XP default ones but it will also have a number of icons on it.
The menu bar (usually known as the Tool Bar) is the strip that runs along the bottom of your screen with a number of icons on it. On that bar you should see a section that says something like "Genes Reunited". Point at that bit, right click your mouse and select Maximise from the menu that pops up.

Errol

Sorry not sure what you mean..i don't really know anything about computers.

Where would i see if my desktop was displaying correctly

Also don't know where to look for this bit... menu bar at the bottom of the screen and then select Maximise.
