Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 12 Nov 2007 15:15

I do ecards too sometimes, but a lot of people I know are wary of opening them for some reason so they get ignored!

Ann, I too love getting and sending cards but there are some people who are environmentally friendlier that me, (even tho I am quite friendly lol) who prefer other ways of passing on greetings so thought I would suggest this idea instead.

Maybe we should just forget this!

No don't forget the idea, it just needs a few suggestions. What about if we had one thread that we all signed with a message for everyone?

Yes love the idea.

When I worked we used to send one card each and displayed them, we all put money into our charity box and on the last working day everyone took one card home (not the one they had brought) worked very well.

A lot of people are wary of e-cards because many of the sites that are used to generate them have ulterior motives! (No such thing as a free lunch and all that, and some are used to harvest email addresses.)
Personally, I regularly use the Jacquie Lawson site (an artist based in the UK) which is highly respected and has some fabulous animated cards.
You do have to pay a subscription but it is more than worth it.

As far as your idea is concerned Liz, it's fabulous in principle but there would be an awful lot of threads if even only a small percentage of the site's members participated unfortunately.

A general message to all.

That way everyone gets good wishes.

Liz, yes, i do appreciate what you are saying but isn't it a shame that to be environmentally friendly we have to give up so many pleasures.?

Just another thought. If there are going to be messages to " xxxx my very best friend" aren't the people who don't get messages going to feel excluded, left out, friendless? I think a general message with an explanation for those who want to join in would be best. Then, besides sending cards to those to whom I normally send, I would happily contribute to charity to put a general message on.

Another thought, how do we stand with the T&C of the site regarding money for charities?

Sorry Liz, trying to be practical not negative.

Ann, regarding the money for charities I would think was the same as what Teresa has just been doing.

Maybe someone can think of a way to do this for the people who want to join in. I just remember last year there were so many Christmas greetings threads up it got very muddled where as if say I put up a thread with my name as the title, and people who wanted to say HC could search for that name and add a greeting or if they spotted the thread could add? Or you could all put Shut Up Liz on it lol

I just think if we put up a thread for ourselves, others can add greetings to it, so if for example, you wanted to send me greetings, you could search for a thread entitled Purple Diamond and add to that thread. I know it would fill up the boards a bit but other threads would filter in ok I am sure. Anyone else any ideas on how to do it, as several people seem interested?
